Hey, first time posting in here, in fact it's the first time I ever came in here....but anyways.
I want to lose around 10-15 lbs, fast. I have jogged a lot in the past and lost around 6-8 in a few weeks by doing some jogging for a few hours here and there. But what I wanted to ask is, what is the most effective exercise to lose weight quickly?
Thanks.

Exercise: Skipping
More important is a good diet.

That thread isn't just how to get a six pack right? It's about all around weight loss I suspect?

Yeah... by weight loss you mean to lose like a spare tire gut, or are you primarily concered about scale weight?
Like if you were to wake up with washboard abs, but still be the same weight... would you consider your diet a failure?

I would be more satisfied with having those abs and remaining the same weight. But my doctor is a little iffy about it. Everytime I go, she goes nuts. It's not I'm obese or anything.

Lose permanemt weight or weight for tomorow? If its the second and you live somewhere hot, put on a garbage bag and start runing like a mad man. Not really healthy but if you need to lose 3 pounds to make weight its the fastest way.

Eat less, excercise more. Cut down on fats and carbs. Lot's of cardio, a bit of weight training to tone it all up. Easier said then done.
EDIT: To lose weight "quickly", just run a lot and eat a lot less. Or stick your fingers down your throat like the chicks do.

I'm not looking for abs, just to lose some of my gut. I'm not fat by any means, I just want to shed some excess pounds.

If you follow my plan you will definetly lose the gut, however, most people replace the fat with muscle, so usually end up heavier on the scale then before... so I guess it is up to you.

It's more of a change of lifestyle then anything else. You have to change your dietry and exercise habits. It takes a while to get a gut, don't expect to lose it in a week. It is far healthier to take your time.
Seems like it is my motto: Do a bit of research, there are plenty of resources on the net.
If you find something you are not sure about, ask.
Good luck.

OMG! Yes... I feel that is the one thing that people never understand when going on a plan and that is most often their downfall. They go in, stay on it for a week, they're like "WTF? Where's my six-pack?" so they quit. I know, I started and failed close to twenty times when I was first trying to diet... and it wasn't untill I understood that it is a LIFETIME LIFESTYLE change, that I started seeing results.

Yeah, it varies for every person. Depending on how much fat you have, your metabolism..etc.

I find it funny when people go on a diet for 8 weeks and lose weight, after that they then go back to their crap eating habits and expect the weight to stay off.
It takes a while to get used to it but it is worth it.

running and skipping. also a really weird thing to do is just like jump for ages...possibly do star jumps or something like that. doing that for 5 minutes will potentially make you as tired as running at a steady pace for 30 minutes. and then theres always the weight training too. that will make you have a better figure even if you are a bit chunky.
wonder_steve

The best way to avoid being 'chunky' as you put it is to follow a bodybuilding program, keep following it untill you get to a figure you want then just lift and eat to maintain it.

If people are going to extremes why don't they just cut off their limbs? They weigh a bit.

It's a really unhealthy way, but I usually get up, and don't eat anything till 12:30 PM.
This mightn't work for you, but my body has adapted to it.
I'm waiting for someone to tell me this is really unhealthy.

If you don't eat something in the morning you cannot 'kicstart' your metabolism. Meaning for a portion of the day your body is running at a fraction of its 'fat burning potential'. Add this to muscle catabolism from not having protein for a few hours and i'd say that it is not the best way to start the day.
But to each his own.

Eat well, Run, skip, swim or just exercise...as long as you get your heart rate up for extended periods of time (an hour of running, half hour of skipping, maybe 90mins of swimming casually, 20mins hard on the rowing machine). BUT, if you wanna lose weight then do your exercising the first thing in the morning before breakfast.

You are coming out of a long fast when you wake up. Muscle catabolism is at an all time high because your body needs energy. Thats is why a high protein intake in the morning is neccesary.

Yes, it usually means your body is turning something into water, often muscle. However, that is expected when cutting weight, it happens to me too. I would talk to your coach though just to make sure your particular case is normal.
Also, if you're doing a regular wrestling drop that means you are avoiding fiber and carbohydrates, so then its just natural since you have nothing to make it firm,

About 8:00am. Why?
Basically, if you sleep around 11:00p.m. Your body won't eat for 13 hours, counting the time between your bed time and your first meal. Also, you don't eat your last meal right before you go to sleep, therefore, your body won't be eating for way over 13 hours.
As cybergasm loves to say, this will result in muscle catabolism.

I'm not sure there is a quick safe way to lose a good amount of weight like that. Just like it took you a while to put it on, it will take you a while to take it off. Probably a few months if you do it the right way. It's not about the dropping the weight and then returning to old habits. It's about changing your lifestyle. You have to motivate yourself to exercise, and teach yourself not to be hungry all the time. Just take my word for it I used to be a little chubby myself. I think at my heaviest I was about 211, but I was only 5' 10". Now i'm about 195 lbs, 6' 3". So I know how this works.
