So I use to put off every saddle creek band but have finally gotten around to trying some out again. I decided to pick up Cursive's The Ugly Organ and I think its fantastic. What are your thoughts on them/their records?

Domestica is my favourite, but the stuff that came out afterwards is excellent, too. Aside from some of The Storms of Early Summer, I'm not too into their older stuff or their latest release of B-sides and rarities.

Screamy? Are you thinking of the right band?

Meh, maybe it's because I've only heard The Ugly Organ. I really like it though.

I prefer The Ugly Organ to Domestica, but they're both great.

The Burst in Bloom EP is great too.

I think they are pretty over-rated, decent band though.

The Ugly Organ is such a fantastic album. To make such a statement like "the music industry is stale" and then back it up with such raw, energetic music makes it the 5 star album that it is. Every track is so emotional and raw and it's just a must-have for a fan of any genre.

Yeah, I pretty much agree with this. It's still my favourite of all the Cursive material, with Domestica being second. But The Ugly Organ is one of the best records I've heard in a long time, and it was quite the experience hearing it for the first time.

Domestica is so amazing. Ugly Organ is good. But the last track and some of the other's are just horrible.

My gateway band to almost everything I've discussed here, I guess.

The Ugly Organ is good and all, but after awhile some of the songs become very annoying. Especially the "heavier" songs, per se.

I'm not really into whatever style of music they are. Indie or whatev, it's just not really my cup of tea.

I heard The Ugly Organ and I didn't like it. Is Domestica different?

Yeah, it's a lot more straightforward than The Ugly Organ and is arguably better.

I was really into The Ugly Organ back in 03-04 (whenevz), whilst I was an angsty young emotional woman who was searching for herself. Or something lik ethat.

yeah. i can't stand emo/screamo or any music that sounds like that, which cursive does. i also don't like cello part of that band (mainly because i'm a bassist and it does what the bass does, making one of them redundant)

One of my favorite bands.

Burst and Bloom is probably my favorite, The Ugly Organ and Domestica are also good. 8 Teeth to Eat You contains a couple of great tunes. I don't really like their screamo-ish early days. The Difference Between Houses and Homes was a big dissapointment. Let's hope they make some good new material soon.

Also, check out The Good Life. They're another Tim Kasher fronted band, that sounds like cursive without all the distortion.

If you liked Domestica and haven't checked out Burst & Bloom, I suggest you do so. The Ugly Organ, while it does hold some of my favorite Cursive songs ("Sierra," "Driftwood," and "Gentleman Caller"), isn't nearly as good as the releases before it.

For me, it's:

Ugly Organ > Burst in Bloom >>>>> the rest

They're a band that gets better with each record, as I see it. I'm anticipating another release.
