HOLY ****

For ****s sake, we get topics about it all the time.

It's pie-stee, or as some people say, it's really pie-steh.

There was a thread about this not too long ago so i can tell you the answer. Paiste is pronounced, "Pie-Stee", which is stated on the site itself (http://www.paiste.com/faqs/#faq13).

I always pronounced it like "Paste" but i was wrong, but somehow my brother managed to pronounce it right the first time. I guess people associate it with "Paste" since it looks like an alternative way to spell it but meh, gotta think about that word!

No, it's not pie-steh. We had this debate as to wether Germans say 'Stee' and they don't but I reminded everyone that North German is different to South German is different to Swiss German.

It is Pie-Stee. End discussion. There are no two ways about it. That's what the company is and has always been called.

Pie-Stee

See, this is why I suggested this should be a stickied topic, along with all other brand names, with official pronounciations, as in company endorsed, no questions asked, everyone else is wrong.

I say paste, even though I know it's wrong.
They should have Americanized their name like Chef Boyardee.

And WTF is with people pronouncing it "Pastiieeeee" as in the patches Burlesque girls wear over their nipples? I crack up everytime I hear it.

I got drunk on it today. Yes, intoxicated from 4 litres of orange juice.

It's not the first time either...

Ah...I see. Did you know you can get drunk on water? You just have to drink a ton of it fast. I haven't actually tried it, but I have heard the rumor from numerous sources.

I used to say Paste but then I heard Pie-stee and been saying it ever since.

It can kill you, but it doesn't happen all the time. It's definetly not healthy. What happens is the salt/water balance in your body dilutes quickly and that impairs your mental processes which puts you in a state similar to being intoxicated. I guess it's not technically being drunk, but I guess it feels the same. Usually when people die from it, they are dehydrated first (marathon runners, military, ect), and then drink too much water, and since their bodies sodium levels are already too low, it's too much for them to handle.

Well I say paste always have.

I don't care how it's supposed to be said, paste is easier to say, it sounds better and it's not as goofy as saying PIE STEE... Come on that sounds stupid.

Jezen

It wouldn't sound stupid to the swiss...

Realisticly, they would probably think you sound like a raving looney.
