GhostNote

Yeah, im primarily a drummer, but i play keys and can play (barely) some bass and guitar. The sax players in the band im in played clarinet before they played sax, they still play clarinet sometimes though. How long have you been playing?

traveller

i've been playin clarinet for 6/7 years. Its lots of fun to be able to play jazz clarinet. i like drumming just to get a break from being a solo instrument in the band. sax is easy once you've played clarinet though ..

Sextet, me on drums/keys/percussion, tenor/soprano sax, alto sax, guitar, bass, another drummer. we are, if all goes well, recording a demo next week. yeah, do you gig?

traveller
01-04-2006, 03:26 PM
yeah, we gig!! its good fun. What do ya play?

GhostNote
01-05-2006, 01:22 AM
Jazz, funk, latin, that sort of thing. Hard to get a gig where i live without some sort of demo to present to a venue though. we're probably the only half decent jazz combo in my town.

EDIT: what do you play? (music)

we do some of our own compositions as well as standards (straight no chaser, Bernie's tune etc). I've found that Chamelion is one of our well loved songs and we always get a few people dancing when we do it.

GhostNote

Yeah, we play originals and standards. Yeah, chameleon is probably one of my all time favourite songs. Great song, such a funky bassline and really good room to improvise, myself playing keys and drums in our band, i get the opportunity to get some distortion and wah going on the keys which is always fun. But yeah, do you have audio of your band playing?

traveller
01-05-2006, 03:55 PM
Well we haven't really found any time to do recordings yet, but as soon as i get some i'll let you know. Have you got any recordings?

GhostNote

as long as there's scones there. we ALWAYS get scones at ghostnote's place. His olds spoil us so much!

traveller

are you one of his band members? scones, eh? um i think we're just out of them. what instrument do you play in the band? i see by your username that you watch red dwarf. RED DWARF ROCKS!!!!

Smeghead
01-23-2006, 07:05 AM
yeah i play most of the drums in the band, and stuggle through some of the keyboard parts. We REALLY need to get a fulltime pianist so ghostnote and I can alternate between kit and percussion. we jam at ghostnote's place and his parents are always cooking for us and generally spoiling us :) but if you can't provide scones then series 1 through 7 of Red Dwarf will suffice ;)
