The latest name change by A Silver Mount Zion (I have a hunch that Efrim changes the names just to annoy the music critics)
Anyhow, This new bootleg has been surfing around lately, and I must say, if the new ASMZ cd is half as good as this bootleg, it would be fantastic. Horses In the Sky was great, but focused too much on Efrim. The new songs showcase a much more balanced ASMZ and the band really shows off their brilliance. Full of clatter, yet under control.
Tracklist:
Untitled
There Is A Butcher On The Podium Playing War Radio
Untitled
There Is A Pile of Tiny Shoes
Efrim Speech
Flown Away
**** This Place + Microphones In The Trees
So has anyone heard this yet?
What's the policy in regards to posting bootlegs? If that's not allowed, feel free to email me and I'll send you the set.

Isn't "Microphones in the Trees" on Pretty Little Lightning Paw? I guess it's a remix.
Is there a release date for this?

**** this Place is an extremly angry intro (sounds more like something by HangedUp! really, but better), and Microphones In The Trees was on Pretty Little Lightnign Paw, but this one a much more low key version. Rather depressing really, but makes for a great show finisher.
It was recorded @ Botanique, Brussels, 20/10/05.
Oh and Track 3 will blow your mind away.

Yar, how many name changes have their been? People were annoyed with the ! in GY!BE, but if they keep going at this rate, the next name will be The Silver Mount Zion Mongolian Wenches, or something.

That's like, a couple of days before i went to see them. I guess it would be the tracklist they played in Amsterdam. I remember him talking about A Pile of Small Shoes. Wow, this sounds awesome. I'll e-mail thee.

I read somewhere that ASMZ changes their name after every album to purposely piss the media off.

Same here. I think Effrim just hates everything.
Does anyone know when the new stuff is due to be released?

I alwyas though that he was a prick actually, but when you here him talking throughout the set, he seems suprisingly friendly.
The band is recording a new cd atm (or so I've heard) with any luck, a new cd should be out late next year.

He is quite nice, a little arrogant though.

He's arrogant during interviews because he hates the media. Has anyone read that interview with him and a couple other members of GY!BE? The interviewer hid a tape recorder under some napkins and published the interview afterwards.
He hates the media, but he loves his fans/audiences. I guess GY!BE even makes members of the press pay for their own ticket to their shows. And if they don't show up an hour before the show to claim their ticket, that ticket goes on sale to any member of the general public.

I don't think so. He could at least muster the decency to treat journalists friendly, and not like scum.

He considers them to be part of their multinationals that employ them. And he doesn't trust them anymore since the guy who his the tape recorder and published the interview. That kinda betrayed his trust.
But whatevs.

He's still a butthead. You can argue about his beliefs and whatnot, but the fact remains that when a journalist published an interview that wasn't to his liking, he said the following:
to the guy who did the interview,
when the interview was done, you were so nervous that your hands were shaking like a little boy's hands and you wouldn't look us in the eye... you gave me a small box of chocolates with those trembling hands and you said something like "i hope you don't think these are too corporate.." for three days after that i was stricken with irrational guilt about your nervousness, i felt bad that we had flustered you so much, and i was upset that we were unable to find a way to communicate anything of value to you... you struck me as a lost, weak, lonely man and i felt a fair amount of misguided empathy towards you... i now regret feeling anything at all, and i wish you nothing but continued misery, loneliness and despair...
He needs to grow up.
