Don't buy cymbals without trying them out first.

I don't believe there is a way to make them sound better... I bought the zxt pro box set, I hate it, but i have to live with it for a couple of years. Until then, I'm just going to have to live with the crap sound...

I'm wondering, have you just started drumming?

Make sure you have the wingnut on loosely and have cymbal sleeves and felts for each cymbal. The type of tip you have on your sticks will also affect the sound (I prefer nylon tips).

Unfortunately, its most likely the cymbals themselves. B8's aren't looked upon highly. After a while you'll probably become accustomed to the sound and they'll be bearable.

Plan B.

They're B8's man, love them, cherish them. These are the cymbals you start drumming with.

Learn to love their sound.

They're pretty low end. Their sound isn't all that great and compared to the ZBT's I used to own, they're "ok". Your better off buying individual, pro quality cymbals if you want top quality tone and sound :thumb:

There is no way to make them sound better. Cymbals are what they are. You can make sure they last a while by striking them correctly and by making sure you don't overtighten your wingnuts.

the ZBTs do sound a bit better, but i have this to say, i had a ZBT crash for about 7 months and played it pretty hard, and it died, but i have had a B8 crash/ride for about a year and a half, played it just as hard and for longer, and there isn't even a tiny crack in it

They're low end cymbals. It's tough to make them sound better man. I used to have the B8 hi hats. I hated them too. You just have to learn to live with it until you can afford some pro ones. Save up a few hundred and go to massmusic.net (if you're in the US). Andy has the cheapest Sabian prices I've seen

A friend of mine has B8s. I used to hate them, but now I sometimes find myself wishing I had a few. The sound isn't bad, it just isn't really right for most cases, it seems.

Played B8s for years, just now getting rid of them!

I can say that the medium 18 inch crash was always pretty good to me, but yeah, if you hate the sound of your entire setup I guess that kinda blows huh?

There is no way to make them sound better...

Haha, exept heating them up and re-hammering them, or hitting them a whole lot.

Sorry to hear your not happy with em man , but look on the bright side. You could have been stuck with sabian solars hehe

Lesson learned, always try out cymbals befor purchasing

You'll become accustomed to them, just save up for some pro sonix or something in the meanwhile

He could also melt them down and change the chemical composition of them and reforge them.

Seriously, its the best begginer line, all the cymbals are bareable, I've had the rock crash which I played like 15 shows with, I used a splash which was also pretty good and the ride which was okay. If you buy 4 cymbals for the price of one pro level cymbal don't expect much but yeah, love them man, these are what your going to learn with.

im not really a beginner, i've been playing for a while...but this was the first real set of cymbals i bought...i've always used the stock cymbals that came with my set...in my opinion, the stock hi hats make better thin crashes than the b8 ones...thats crazy! lol...i would have gotten better cymbals but i didnt really have much money...

Haha, that's great, but honestly the stupidest idea ever. I have normal B8's, and they do the job. The rides you should stay away from though.

Buy pro cymbals.... Ones you will not need to upgrade and will last forever. Buy one at a time is the way to go!

B8 are good they go better with time in my opinion, you just got to find the way to play them properly and they'll sound quite good, :O

Properly as in hitting them with a stick, right?

B8s and similar cymbals go better in time cause people get used to the crappy sound. Thats what happened when I bought XS20s. I got used to the crap sound. I upgraded my hats and ride so far to AAX and there is a huge difference.
