Well For The First Part You Need A Pick, And Second Part You Need To Make Sure You Are Playing It Right Because The Timing Makes It Sound Kinda Echo'y I thought It Was An effect To But It's The Timing Put Into IT, How Do You Play It?

You Might Be Missing That Note, I Was when I First Learned It

distortion pedal, in schism? wtf????

get new strings for this song, and i don't think you can hear him play with a pick on that track, it's not that necessarry...

You're right, it's not that necessary by itself, but it adds up with all the other bits and becomes quite a vital factor to the tone.

To get the proper exact tone you'll need Demeter tube heads (I think), a sansamp bass driver, a wal bass, chorus and delay pedals, digitech whammy pedal and loads of other stuff. Also, being Justin Chancellor really helps too, as I believe technique plays a large part.

Seriously though, to get close, you need a pick, a little bass, alot of mid and treble, slight distortion, slight chorus and to hope for the best? New strings do help cos it gives it all that extra twang, but make sure you're in drop-d tuning for some of the riffs.

I boost the treble and keep everything else flat--i cannot stand picks, and I don't need to with my eq.

Obviously you're not going to put on a set of new strings every time you want to play this song.

Pick near the bridge, use a lot of treble, and cut the bass. Bridge pickup helps too.
