Hey, does anyone know of some good worldbeat/jazz fusion artists or bands? I'm looking for jazz fusion with kind of an exotic feel to it, african, latin, asian, any kind of foreign-based beats or chord progressions and the like.

you could, on the other hand, move to haiti or somewhere exotic and learn the cultuarl music there and im sure they would be more than happy to point you to some exotic fusion

Go to a cd store and tell them you want the Putumayo Presents:Asian Lounge, or Putumayo Presents: Sahara Lounge. Check them out, they are really mellow and kinda jazzy. Really cool beats to it too.

I just bought a cd by a guy called; Jean Luc Ponty. He does jazz/funk stuff with an african feel to it, lots of percussion, and a really good bass player. Jean luc plays violin and keys, its the best violin playing ive ever heard! The album is called Tchokola, it is really great. Kind of Cajun-ish with funk and african fees.

Check out a French Canadian band called Dobacaracol. They've got a whole heap of different ethnic sounds going on. I dunno how easy it is to find their stuff, though.

All of the DobaCaracol stuff is out of print, and real hard to find.
