Hey all. I would search this, but for some reason I get a gateway timeout when I try, so I'll keep it quick. It seems I have expended all my region changes, and now I'm stuck at region 1 and can't play anything bought in this country (England). Is there any software out there that will let me bypass this region bollocks? Well I'm sure there are but I mean any you'd recommend?

It really písses me off cos I'm all for supporting the movie industry, but I don't see why the hell I should with cráp like this. Like the properties on my DVD drive say that I can no longer change the region, even after an uninstall or removal of the drive lol what a load of shít. I just wanna be able to watch Blues Brothers (original), followed by Invader Zim! Is that such a crime?! *cries*

I'm just pulling this one out of my *** but would rolling back the firmware do anything?

Failing that, VLC Media Player will play any region.

If you want to burn the dvd use IFOedit.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies. Well I found out that the problem is due to my drive being "RPC2"; basically the region encoding is hardwired into the drive itself, so few, if any players (VLC for instance) can circumvent it. So for now, my focus is just getting back to where I was, and be able to play a region 2 disc again :(

Firmware rollback is definitely a good idea, but I'm not too sure how I'd go about that.....

what kind of drive do you have? you can usually find hacked firmware for most dvd drives.

Heh, yeah would you believe it, mine (Matshíta UJ-820S) seems to be one of the only drives on the PLANET that doesn't have either a hacked RPC1 Firmware, or an RPC2 reset patch. Just my luck eh?!

Shame though, as this is seriously gunna affect my chances of resale - which was, for a while, the plan. Bummer.

You can buy a Multi Region DVD player at most stores for $30 or $40. They're not as exotic as people think; most people just don't read all the labels.
