going to my local GC shop looking in for a new splash..... my 4 choices are:

Sabian AA 6"
Sabian AA 8"
OR
Sabian AAX 8"
Sabian AAX 10"

Could you lovely people describe if possible what these sound like?

get the HHX 10" or 12" splash

( I have Dom famularo's HHX splash wich he played on at his clinic here in

Listen to the sound clips on Sabian.com That should give you a rough idea of how they perform.

Definitely grab the larger splash sizes to begin with. If you have the extra cash, then go for an 8" splash or smaller. The 10" is the perfect size and has great projection, and its perfect for quick, yet highly audible accents.

Don't under-estimate the 6" and 8" cymbals too though! I have both 6" splashes and bells, and one 8" splash. These are a lot of fun to play on and actually provide a small, but noticable presence.

Ever ride a 6" splash? Thats one funky rhythm.

I have an AAX 6", it's a great sounding cymbal but like someone has already said, there's not enough projection. I'd go for the 8" AAX.

Okay it sounds like your a brand whore because you don't what you want, I'd accually say that besides the HHX's and paragons any zildjian splash blows away any other splash by a major company(here we go...) On cymbalsonly.com there are good splashes by bosphorus, they have audio of the accuall cymbal for sale, its like 9'' and under the description it says that its a good combo for hats along with the bell, I think its the turk series or w/e I'll check it now and get back to you, really good splash. Its the traditional line, really good stuff I'm probably going to order one soon.
