Unlike most people though, I'm not gonna ask what you used to record it...cause frankly I dont' care... what matters is the sound and you have good sound.:chug:

Sounds great man. I love the sound you got. What did you use?

Edit: ^^ haha, I'm interested in buying mics and things, so I'm justified in asking, hopefully.

I don't remember fully, though my best guess is the mic's were sm57 on the snare, d112 on the kick, prob ksm137's over overheads..
Snare is 13x5 vented, tuned pretty low, sounds like one of my maple kicks, no idea on the toms, they aren't my beechs so might be one of the other sets, possibly the mahgony's.

heh I'm being a dumbass, of course..

Cool I liked the drum sound. I enjoyed it. The groove around 2 mins reminds me of Grace by Jeff Buckley.

Ah thanks again. I get a lot of comments on my drum sound.

Single ply heads, well tuned, no muffling.

Ahh thanks. Been seeing Jeff pop up more round here, wich is excellent! Jeff's got some awesome stuff, unique and great playing drum wise too.

Definatly, Matt Johnson (i think?) is a great drummer, he always seems to come up with interesting ideas and grooves, for example - Mojo Pin, So Real. Jeffs a great songwriter too, and obviously singer.. something like 5 and a half octaves? wow.

Haha well thank you, that's potentially saying a lot!

Matt's a great player, Grace is an amazign album and the drum parts are just fantastic.

Mojo Pin is super cool, very lounge-y vibe. So Real is really just some great rock I think, it really shows deep rock can go, unique both drumming and otherwise.

That's some good stuff there my sont.

A touch of time flux in some places, but very solid otherwise. I like the consitency of the notes, something many forget to practice. Toms are a little muddled for my taste, but to each his own.

keep up the good work!

Im a bit perplexed about how you did that hi hat and ride bit at the same time ....dont mock me if its obvious

I don't know what you're talking about, but it's possible to hit the hi hat and the ride if you have two hands.

6 stroke roll between the ride and the hats, (rrllrL format) with the last note being the 'shick' on the hats.

Thanks again for the comments.

Wow, that's really good. I like the sound of your snare, whatever it is you're using. I saw multiple snares in that snare picture thread. Sounds good, d00d.

Wow, verrrry solid! By yourself you hold a very solid beat, and I don't need to tell you how important that is.

Lovely sound too.

Wow... I enjoyed that... Alot. I took off rush for something and this was the first time that I didn't regret it. How long have you been playing?

Seafroggys
01-01-2006, 02:51 AM
i do a hat/ride thing all the time at the same time.

Right hand playing eighth notes on the ride, left foot playing eighth notes (or quarters if too fast) on hi-hat pedal.

You're right, I made a mistake. It's post #7, also quoted it for you before.

Ah rush for me? Nah.. that's not right. Thank you though, I'll have been playing 19 years in March.
