My girlfriend got me "F.E.A.R" for christmas and I'm happy. I get home and try to play it and was dissapointed. I usually can play games fine if I put them on medium or low settings but not fear. It looks great but when the action starts it freezes and then I'm dead because it skips around so much they kill me :(. I don't really know how video cards work so I don't know if it's my card or not enough ram. I'm running a 3000 AMD Athalon 2.0 Ghz prosessor with 512 DDR ram. My video card is a Radeon 9200 128mb card. I wanna play this game (it's un refundable now that I opened it) but I don't want to spring for a new card just yet. I know, I should of listened to all you guys boasting about the 3000gt.
Anyways, when I hit the slow spots it doesnt affect the visual quality, which leads me to believe it might be due to ram. I can get another 512 stick for under a hundred making a total of 1g. But then again I could be wrong because I don't know how cards work.
also, since I don't like to make a million threads, can someone recomend me a mother board? I don't know how they work either or what to look for. All I really want is something that will accomodate my currant chip, has a PCI express slot and has the capablitys for recording. I don't know much about recording via computer. All I do is Guitar>Tonelab>fostex8 track>flash media card>computer>Adobe Audition. I want to get into midi so I wanna plan for the future. Any insight would be very much appreciated :).
