here are some options available..
-I know I can rent an upright bass for 30 bucks a month (maybe practice for several months and then buy one seriously.)
but is it better to...
-buy a cheap one, and where could I buy a cheap one besides ebay?

Theres really no such thing as a cheap upright, I would try renting one for a few months and see how that goes.

I got it used... and i really use it for warming up... ive recorded with it once, but my intonation was so bad i cant listen to it.
Im teaching myself, but my technique is bad :(

i'd suggest renting one to make sure it is something that you want to persue into deeply...even tho it could be money you could put towards your own...i think its a small price to pay for reassurance...and $30/mnth isnt bad...

Yea, upright is the only kind of bass that I would get a teacher for. Because when technique is everything or nothing, you gotta get it right.

Rent one.
I wouldn't rush out and buy one. Double bass might not even be for you.

Yeah thats what is killing it the price:rolleyes:, its dying because no one wants to really play it anymore as the electric basses get more popular no one wants to learn, there are some but the majority don't even know there still used.
^ I wouldn't say thats true at all.
