Hey, I don't know if this is in the right place but I was wondering if anybody had any good right hand execises? I need some exercises for building up right hand speed (using index and middle fingers) and strength. Because I can't really play fast with index middle, and when I can, it never lasts long because my hand gets tired. So I was wondering is there were any good exercises for it. Thanks in advance.

Just play. I think hand excercises are a pillock(woot english insult) and playing will make you play better, I mean what better exercise can you get that doing what it is your exercising for?

I can recommend you some video's that might help loosen up you right hand.:naughty:
Since puberty my right hand loosened up quite a bit.

I am a righty, but I prefer to excercise my left hand, and use the right hand for the mouse.
this could be too easy/hard, depending on your skill level, but just check out this lesson i did:

(scroll down)
it's really more focused on left hand speed and dexterity, but it can help your right hand as well.

See right now my hands are in the zone. But it took like 2 hours of practice/warming up to get into it. And I gotta keep playing or else it'll go away. I hate that. Especially when unexpected band practices happen. My hands arent warmed up and I go and mess up our songs.

atleast it's unexpected practice. what about unexpected gigs?
warming up is a part of playing. after a while it won't take but two minutes to get warmed up.

Yeah hopefully after awhile of lots of practice and warm ups, my hands wont take so long to get in the zone.
and nah, no gigs...yet.
My bands only been together for like 2 months, a month and a half with me in it (at first I was just a fill in for their old bass player, but I guess he wasn't realiable and they'd my playing.) All we've been doing so far is practicing our set list and our orignals (3 that are ready to go, 1 one that's almost ready and another 1 that we still need to work on a lot.) We have our set list down and we're starting on a new set list soon, so we're hoping to get some gigs soon.

Just practice chromatics, that's what helps. Plus practice with a metronome, go through it perfectly five times-move the dial up one beat go for another five, etc.

Just play all the time. When I had problems with my plucking hand I would read a book or watch tv and just be plucking....
Practice practice. But don't over do it. Playing too much can give you RSI's! I've got one now, ive had it for a while and its because i play too much!

A lot of people have said just practice, but I sympathize greatly with the fact that not all of us can practice every day.
There's various hand exercises you can do in any situation--during class, watching tv, etc. Basically, any method you can use to stretch your hand will help it as long as you aren't blistering with pain. Tapping is another good way--just tap your fingers flat on a table. Put your hand palm down and lift up each finger individually without moving the others. Then tap with a nice, strong (but not necessarily forceful) motion. You can then add in rhythms or switch fingers for dexterity. Both hands will benefit from this and it's just one example of exercises you can make up to strengthen your fingers when you aren't near your bass.
