I just bought the marshall dsl 401 combo, and after I have played it for a half an hour or so, I felt the gold coloured area where the knobs are and its was
quite hot. I would like to play for long periods of time, and to be able to accidently leave it on every once and awhile. Is it normal for it to get this hot? anyone had there amp blow up?
Thanks guys

that is a common issue with the dsl401
the layout is pretty crappy so it gets hot pretty fast
so it's kinda "normal", still not good
you could add a fan, but that could cause noise problems (I'm not sur eon that one)
never place it up against a wall, give it some space to breathe
I know a guy that has one, it does get hot very fast, he doesn't know much about amps and doesn't even let it warm up, leaves it on for long periods and has pretty old tubes in it too, and yet has never had any problems... guess hes a lucky bastards...
to sum it up : there's nothing wrong with your amp

Maybe it's a good idea to get one of those little 'silent fans' and run it at the 'hot spot'...
