Just out of interest wondering if theres any real order to how you should have your pedals? Im replacing my multi fx pedal with some boss ones so just after a bit of advice really.
So far I only have a tuner and a compression/sustain pedal but tomorrow im getting a cry baby and will probably add a few such as chorus etc so is there any real guideo order? apart from tuner being first

Haha this is so sad, I have practically no knowledge on electric gear
Guitar->preamp->compressor->distortion->wah->reverb->volume pedal->noise gate->eq->delay->amp
it's got an e.g. where it has tuner->chorus->distortion->eq
Hope that helps... someone else here will be able to tell you better with this stuff

I think it is totally a matter of personal preference. Although, there are reasons why certain effects/processes are in specific order.
Guitar->preamp->compressor->distortion->wah->reverb->volume pedal->noise gate->eq->delay->amp
Yes, the guitar must be first in the series ;)
Preamp next because this is where the true character of the signal is born, then other effects are added. Yes, Compressing the signal next makes sense, because you wouldn't want to compress the inherent noise of each successive pedal (e.g. Distortion, Wah). Next would be distortion.
As for the Noise gate, it should be placed after the pedals which boost the signal, since it has a threshhold setting which triggers it. The gate shuts the door on noise when the signal drops below a certain level - and it is the compressed, distorted signal which needs suppression.
But the order of wah, reverb, eq and delay is up to you. I see no technical reason to put those in a specific order. Some would say you should EQ the signal before you even send it through a compressor, while others like to do it in a different order. You would get varied tonal results by shifting their position in the pedal series. It's perference.
By the way, what happened to the forum? Are we Russians now? :D I don't quite like the dark background - kinda hard on the eyes with lighter text. Someone made a poor decision when they changed the color scheme.

Mx, Sputnik music and MF are all sister sites. Mx has been closed down because of this whole copyright deal and that's where most members of the forums were coming from, so sputnik and MF have been combined and Sputnik is getting upgraded so that we'll keep getting members through that way.
It's all in the announcements :).
But yeah, the new format is from Sputnik, but that's just the default one. Go into user CP (accessable at the bar at the top) and under options, there's a section where you can choose a theme you like. There are 4 or 5 of them.

order is really up to you. I have a couple of wahs, the cry baby I like first after the guitar, I have a screaming demon wah and it has to go in the effects loop after the distortion, as far as compresser it would go as the first effect, the chorus should be the last effect, in the effect loop if you have one.

[Regarding Wah Pedals]I put it as early as possible. So guitar into wah into phasing into compression into overdrive into modulation. I remember reading that that's the basic suggested order you want to generally follow on the Robert Keeley website somewhere. There aren't any rules though, so it's all up to personal preference and expirimentation.
Quote of another person: "When someone says before, you can assume they mean earlier in the signal path. Therefore, the second."
Yeah, the amp is "the end of the road" so to speak when it comes to effect chain order, as that's where the sound comes out. The guitar is the earliest in the order because it's where the sound is generated.
Posted that in the Main Guitar forum earlier.
And by the way, I greatly prefer the Blue/Green background. Classic.
