sorry guys, i KNOW i've seen this here before, but i've been searching for 20 minutes and can't find exactly what i'm looking for.
the deal: i have an 18" AAX stage crash, with a large enough crack in the bell do make it unplayable. (i presume i broke it while playing it in very cold temperature's (my bad) but i'm not sure.)
anywho, can i return this cymbal for a free one from sabian? i've heard they will take any cymbal no questions asked and replace it, but maybe that was just a myth.
if anyone can give me some info on refunding broken cymbals it would be much appreciated.
Thanks
:)

it depends on how old it is. if its under a year, then they should take it, if its over, your out of luck unless you got an extended warrenty on it.

Metal becomes brittle at colder temperatures, AFAIK.

Large crack you say? I dont know then.
When I bought my cymbals the guy working there said you are supposed to return them as soon as a crack starts forming.
But that could just be their store policy, so I'm not sure.

I live in Manitoba, man.
If mine haven't broken, and yours are in your house, they should be fine.
You may be refused a replacement, as the warranty covers maufacturing defects only. There are reasons why the cymbal may have cracked around the bell, but generally, as mentioned, it needs to be acted on right away - Bell cracks can also be caused by tightening cymbals down onto their stands too tightly. Generally, temperature would not be an issue unless its really cold.
A store owner may make the choice to take it on, but if the supplier refuses to credit him a cymbal, the store will be the one that cops the loss. Basically, convince the place you brought it from that you looked after it and see what they say. No company is obliged to replace any cymbal they believe has been mistreated or damaged due to the way you play.

You have to be really carefull with either extreme, you don't want to hot or too cold. Anything in between I really don't see effecting it majorly.

My kit is next to a radiator, its not right up against it and its never on too hot, just a bit warm. I dont have anywhere else to put it, my electric kit is in the only other space.

I dont know about Sabian but Zildjian seems pretty easy about replacing cymbals. I've sent in a couple that I wasn't expecting anything for and I got replacements.
