Which program would one use to convert .m4a files into mp3 or WAV files? I recently downloaded a Jimmy Gnecco concert and I am unable to burn it onto a cdr. Help!

From what I've read... you really don't convert m4a files to any other format.

when you rip a cd into iTunes... it's by default .mp4..... ive used nero to convert some songs to mp3....
I'm pretty sure you can convert the files with iTunes... if not...
this could be solved in 1 minute of googling... yup...

How would iTunes work?
Right click the songs > Convert to MP3
Or you can set it so when you rip a CD, it will be imported as an MP3. That's somewhere in the preferences.

He wants it converting to WAV.
Convert it with iTunes, then convert the mp3 to WAV.

Why would you want to convert them to mp3, if you don't mind me asking? M4a is a great compression...

Just use this program (http://www.nch.com.au/switch/) for any audio file converting you need doing. The freeware version works fine by the way.

Because its the only way I can fit the entire show onto a cd. :)

Aren't M4a files smaller? I'm sorry if it's a dumb question I just don't get what you're saying.

Just google "m4a to mp3", and yes it is easily possible,
M4A files are bigger than mp3s.

DbPowerAmp used to be my answer for this question, but since they've lost their license to use an mp3 converter like they did before, the program is a pain to use. You can usually find a cracked version though.
Doing what Reiner said will get you a lot of different options as well.

i use cool edit pro 2.0 to convert cd rips (through itunes) into mp3s, because i stream those on radio channels sometimes, and that works pretty well.

I just downloaded what you want today. It's called "Xilosoft MP3 WAV Converter"
If you can't find it I'm sure I could scrounge around for the link I used.
edit: Just to clarify, it turned my m4a files into mp3s.
