I switched on the tele this morning and tuned in to T4 (in the UK), it was a Girls Aloud concert and I was very impressed with the drummer, I can't remember his name but he was also the musical director. Before the song "The Sound Of The Underground" he played this awesome linear "fill" (It was actually more of a beat than a fill, it went on for ages). He also played some other excellent fills and some great grooves, anyone else see it? :chug:
A lot of pop bands, when playing live will often hire some decent musicians to play with them - and they get paid a tonne!
Destinys child (i think) was another good example.

And to think the drummer sits at the back ;)
Pop artists use awesome drummers. The mighty Aaron Spears plays for Usher for example :)

and yeah i saw a Britney concert on tv and the drummer ****ing ruled, i see a lot of pop musicians letting the drummer solo during concerts.

Backing drummers for pop acts tend to be very, very good at what they do. More often than not they work with a click, so they have to be right on the beat, every night, but they still have to be flexible if the artist decides to mix it up a bit.

Yeah, he had quite a view :chug:.

On 'Later with Jooles Holland' KT Tunstall performed her song "Suddenly I See" then at the end as the music faded, the drummer carried on playing while KT went and sat on another drum kit to the side of the stage and they both started playing a little drum solo together. Was awesome....and repeated early this morning at like 1.35.
yea it was good i didnt watch or listen to much of the drumming though:naughty:
but yea he was real good and a nice DW as well

The drummer for her band is also her boyfriend, they have plenty of time to practice together !!!!

good performance, but whoever was mixing that ought to be shot. The toms had too much low, so it was overshooting everything, even KT...
She actually gave the Akai 2 Headrush a shoutout from her first performance on Jools Holland. Damn good pedal, i must buy one...

Yeah I always thought that, you'd think he could change his sticking technique!

Lol its not one of those technique things that some people get pissed off about, it's just i can just imagine some kid at home seeing that and thinking drums are a piece of piss/mickey mouse instrument cos hes just waving his arms around.
And i dont think that was him Andy
