OH MY GOD
this thing plays so well......I can't even begin to talk about how good it sounds

and the active/passive switch? I have 2 basses in 1!

and i know everyones used to hearing this about the miller: the only downside is no tone control in passive mode

but thats really not a big deal as long as you have a nice eq coming from your preamp...and in the far future, i might get an eq pedal to compensate but unlikely


anyway, I'll be posting a review of this bass next week, along with more pics and some sound clips (active+passive)

it ended up costing 720 quid, but we got the VAT back so it was really 610 and they threw in a high quality padded strap and a REALLY REALLY nice softshell case (it shouldn't be called a gig bag, like those simple fender ones)

No, seriously I was thinking of getting a Fender, just to have one so I have the option. Found a Fender-copy at a nearby store, thing the brand was COX (:) ) or something. Sounded allright, it was a lefty and cheap, and nice to slap on.

well I'm gonna record in a couple of days once i get the strings a little more broken in and less bright

I think I'm gonna do it like this:

Recording input--->condenser mic--->amp-->overdrive(for a bit)--->bass


"recording input" is my korg recording mixer, i'm then going to transfer it to the computer and upload to soundclick or YSI

and they supposedly have it in 3 color sunburst altho no one has ever seen that finish on the MM

i wish the 4 string was as much as the 5, we 5 stringers gt jipped... but not really, the 5 quality wise is way better then the 4, but for those who dont have it/dont want to pay that much we're screwed, i like the 5, just dont think its worth the cost.

I once played a MM with ChrisK and Jamie but it sucked, but that might be just down to the fact that it could have had a shite setup.

I love the natural, it looks gorgeus but im not really fond on the 5 string version and I dont like the control plate and its active.

The 5 strings preamp was very powerful, but it was utterly useless for tone shaping. The tone was very dull. I couldn't get any decent tones from it that i liked and i was playing through an Eden rig.

The neck was so heavily glossed that it gripped too much, i couldn't run my hand up the neck fast enough.

Just didn't cut it for me, and those things are very expensive too.

Having said that, it is probably the sexiest looking Fender bass available today.

Zenderquai bought that bass, then sold it, claiming he was "bored" with it...It was a lemon for sure.

I also played the Cort six string (which he had returned and traded for the Miller bass) and it was a stinker (bt thats jus Cort I guess :lol:) but yes, I saw the Marcus Miller bass he had returned...and the store wern't too happy I recognised it, they were selling it on as "new" and I was asked to leave.

I too, had played that MM bass before Zenderqueer got it, and it did stink.

i was actualy expecting there to be tons of wiring and such under the pickguard...turns out it's all under the control plate....the battery socket is also very neat....everything about this bass is just so nice, i almost can't believe I own it

that's only 4 different instrumments. IMO that's the adequite amount for a musician.

i, myself, plan on building my collection more and more. currently 2 basses and 3 guitars, but i want more guitars. each has it's own tuning. EADGBE, DGDGBD, and D#F#C#F#G#C. and the 2 basses are simply for seperate tones.

more guitars = more versatality.

well i would argue with this

compare the fender miller sound to the warwick(rockbass) vette....

there are a bunch of different sounds i could get from each one...plus the vette has 5 strings

and well 2 guitars...i wouldn't talk as much about sound as i would point out that one is acoustic and the other is electric...humbuckers =/= acoustic preamp
