Yeah... just wondering...

I have had the luck of not being mugged, but I'm curious, as I see a lot of big spenders on this board. Have you? Keep the discussion music-gear related.

not me, but on Sonic Youth's website it lists every single guitar/bass that has been stolen from them. it totals to 26, which includes a bunch of vintage, rare, and discontinued gear.

also 12 amplifiers, and 21 FX pedals.
very depressing.

I think I have lost/(someone has stolen) my leatherstrap :( I can't find it anywhere and it's been lost since the latest gig. I hate that shop that has my bass now, if it wasn't for them I would have straplocks. :upset:

someone decided to try and break open my case for some reason.... took the cable and strap but they couldnt get the bass out (it was locked in an instrument locker kinda thing - hard to explain)....

.... and got caught trying to put them back ( - not sure why but ya no ) by my mate - so got them back, and they got a going over from the front row of our rugby team  .

Apart from that just people from my band disappearing with cables and things - but not quite the same really

oh i forgot, i did have something stolen!!!

at a show, i had my korg tuner (the little black one) stolen

which was a shame, but not too much since i have a tuner built into my bass amp, a tuner in the podxtlive (guitar), and a tuner in my acoustic

now i'm gonna need a tuner once i get a new rig

Ive had 2 basses (fender jazz and ibanez) stolen from me. the fender got yanked from the 2nd show i played with it after putting a LOT of money to fix it up, it was a project bass. I just recently got my whole cd case stolen out of my friends car. I havent exactly had the best luck with music related stuff

Passive DI.

Even though it was free..It still cost me in the end when I replaced it with something else.

Nothing important, just a lead that I lent to someone at uni never got returned.

I have most of my important stuff insured, my bass for $2000 and my amp for $1000. I don't have my pedals insured because I mainly use them for home recording projects.

nothing. Just like there's nothing wrong with picking up fat girls.
you just don't need to tell anyone that you do it.

Nothing, I played with a pick when I was in my GNR cover band. However, alot of people still get pissy about it. BASS WAS MADE FOR FINGERS, they say.

I would have to see pictures of the ex before making a call on it.
I play 2 songs from a 20 song set with picks.
I have also picked up fat girls.
There. I said it and now I can move on.

yeah i use picks if i want the bassline to have a more solid, driven, stable sound.

however if i want bounciness and smoothness, i use fingers.

i get the best of both worlds, and i actually look down on those kids that say "BASS WAS MEANT 4 FINGRS LOL" more than a shabby root-note only pick player.
