Hey all. I've recently finally upgrade my pedal with my Christmas money and the last part of my kit that really needs to be upgrades (Pearl Forum) is the snare... However i dont have that much cash to work with. I have about 200-250 canadian... Is there anything out there in that range or should i just save up a bit more?

You should look into the Pearl Chad Smith Signature snare. Its 14" with steel shell and good projection. Its got a wide tuning range too so it could work for a wide variety of genres.

200-250 Canadian, eh...you could probably save up a little bit and it will open up a lot of possibilities.

I'm on the same issue man. I got some cash today for x-mas, and I'm going to pick up a snare tomorrow, I'll probably go with the Chad Smith, I tried it awhile back at the music store, it's a sweet sounding drum. So yeah, give the Chad Smith a look, I think it's just under $300 canadian.

Check out Pearls Sensitone line. I got a 13x5.5 snare for 140 from Massmusic.net

Dixon 13x4 maple snare (might have been 13x3, I cant remember).
Was... $120CAD at Axe Music here if I remember correctly.
I was suprised at the sound of this thing. I had such a hard time deciding whether to get that Dixon snare, or the steel Black Panther (which I ended up getting).
Try out before you buy though, as always.
