I just got a Fender Jazz 24 for Christmas and it's beautiful! but I can't find a case that it would fit in :( the neck is 34' and the whole bass is 47' does anyone know any kind of HARD case that it might fit in?

It should fit in most cases. Fender probably makes one too.

the first result for 'bass case' on musiciansfriend turns up one that fits, and then some.

I had a case that my Ibanez GSR200 had an inch between the back of the body and the edge of the lining. My jazz bass, which is 2 inches longer or so, fits into it, although it's a bit of a squeeze.

that perticular case is 47' my bass is 47' thats a hell of a squeeze it's the same with the other fender case. I just don't wanna blow 100 bucks on one and find out it doesn't it.

Yes. But why wouldn't it fit? It's a inch longer, most cases have room to spare.

the same reason you can't fit a 5" cylinder into a 4" hole. many cases have room to spare and many don't. the case for my ibanez with with no more than a millimeter of extra space. he probably shouldn't be taking any chances, especially if he is ordering online

My Ibanez case has at least a inch and a half to spare.

Then he should go to a shop and try out the cases. Simple solution, no?

I thought standard neck size was 34? And extended was 35? I maybe wrong though.

If it is, (34 the standard) then most cases should do...

i thought that was what he was doing originally. i just order them myself these days since every time i've gone to a music store to get a case they never had the right sizes and had to order them

u should buy a case and then cut the inside out so it fits yours

Smartest post in the whole thread.

But then it doesn't look all pretty, and in Fender cases, it won't fit like a cookie cutter :(

*edit* and wtf why does it change my o's to zeros?

You should buy a case, and then chop off bits of his bass til it fits in.

I was thinking about this one http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/g=home/search/detail/base_pid/541533/

I play that funky music

The standard musiciansfriend case should fit it.

..Why not just go for a heavy duty gig bag?

Unless a hardshell is absolutely necessary in the situation your in..

Well with the money I paid for my bass I don't wanna risk it

I thought the Jazz24 just had deeper cutouts than the normal jazz?

And you really dont need a hardshell, unless youre flying your bass all over the place. Just put it on top when you pile your stuff in your car.

Ive used nothing but gigbags for all my instruments, never had any damage to any of em while in transit.

hold on... you said the scale is 34? thats standard. it should fit any normal jazz case. the longer fretboard is worked in by using a smaller body, if thats your concern.

Same here. My Fender gig bag($30) is great. Not to mention the price difference between hardshell and bags.

a smaller body? no, definitely not. Fender adds the extra frets by simply extending the fretboard beyond the neck pocket (i.e. over the body/pickguard). The body size is identical.

the body is smaller because the cut out is slightly larger

^^^Hmmmmm..... just checked out the Fender website and it appears I was wrong. I played a Jazz 24 at GC about 6 months ago, and it had a white pickguard with the fretboard simply cantilevered out over the body/pickguard. Now they don't even have a pickguard. Very strange, must have been an early bass in the production line back when they were still putting pickguards on that bass.
