I just got a ton of best buy gift crads for xmas and I want to get a gameboy again. Which one? The nintendo ds is expensive. The Micro is easily affordable and the SP is the cheepest. I want to have enough money to get a game or two. I have $120.

Take a loan from your parents and buy a DS, if I knew you and you bought a a sp or advance, I would pretty much shoot you, you can play them on the computer.
Get the DS and download roms and emulators. It should work.

GBA SP if you don't want to spend much, DS if you do as it has better games and new games will be coming out for it for at least a few years and it plays GBA games anyway. GBA Micro if the idea of the console being tiny appeals to you, I guess.

You guys are all crazy, can I have some of your pot.
I'd go to a pawn shop and get a really cheap regular gameboy advance. The only downfall to that is that the screen is extremely dark

DS. It can play DS and advance, where SP can only play advance. It comes with a chat area thing if you have wi-fi and it is coming out with many wifi games. It also has a built in clock (OMG) and I think it even has its own alarm.
well the DS isn't a part of the gba line, it's seperate, even then you want to be able to buy a game right (ds is $125 i believe)? i'd say go for the sp since it's the cheapest and get yourself a couple of games that you've heard good things about. the micro is definitely nice (sharp screen and convenient size) but the sp has the clamshell design and gets the job done. go for the sp, it's the money-saver.

Go for the DS...
You said yourself
the micro is easily affordable
The DS is only $20 more
I think it even has its own alarm.
It does. It's rather annoying too.

Dude, get the DS. Though it is expensive (just as much as the Gamecube upon it's release ) it is worth your money. Not only does it have great games, but the graphics on it are terrific, it is backward compatible with all the other Gameboy systems (if not all, it is with GBA) and you can play your DS online. When the DS has Super Smash Bros., which it will, you'll really want to have a DS. I got mine today and I'm luvin' it.
(if not all, it is with GBA)
Just GBA, that's the downside.

It's still a nifty system and it looks like he's looking for a GBA playing system anyway. He mightaswell get the DS just in case GBA stops manufacturing games.

I completely agree. I love my DS.

I had no idea that DS was backwards compatible. OMGwtFPwNaSaUruS is what the DS just unleashed on the other systems. I'm getting a DS, I just have to wait a week or two.

On the off-chance that you'll be playing classic GameBoy games too, get a Micro. The SP is pretty chunky to be honest and the Micro screen may be small but it's super sharp. If you're not going to play classic GB games, go for the DS.

The Micro is pretty cool if you want something small, and hip. I'd just get the DS, I have one now and really wouldn't want to be without it now!

If you're not going to play classic GB games, go for the DS.Actually, Micro can only play GBA games. GBA-SP was the last handheld to support original GameBoy games. The newer, brighter backlit verison of the GBA-SP came out about the same time as the Micro (in the US, anyway), and is probably the best one to go for if you still have oldies in your collection. Micro is my personal favourite, due to its reduced size, addition of a standard headphone jack, and its tough metal shell (apart from the face plate, which is still plastic). Nintendo DS is obviously only recommended if you also plan on buying DS games, but it's worth pointing out that they're already working on a sleeker updated DS to replace the current chunky design.

get a ds mate. but if your really short of money get an sp, its really small and easier to hold than a micro. judging by this years ds line up (a lot of amazing games) get a ds . and buy loads of gba games cheap off amazon.

GBA SP is the best choice, cos it has a backlight, can play old GB games and is compact.
but if you want good looks, get this (http://gc.advancedmn.com/images/media/fgbmicro.JPG). you'll find some on e-bay, which is where i got mine.

*ATTN - what i say is law*
anyway, the ds sucks balls, it's friggin huge, the original game boy advance has a very, very dark screen (seriously, i cant believe i used to have one), the game boy micro is just crap - a waste of money, whoever bought it that had a gbasp before is a LOSER!
in my opinion, the sp is the best handheld console nintendo has released so far. it's pretty much perfect for playing gba games, and you never have to buy new batteries. i got mine the first day it came out and it's still pretty much working just as good as when i got it, except it has scratches all over it. also it closes up and it's small unlike Teh Ds

It's so dark that it's nearly unplayable except in good light.
The refresh rate on the new sp is lower than the old sp. The old SP was plenty bright, so if you can, get the old one.
There is absoltly no reason to get the micro. It's more expensive and the only difference between it and the sp is that the sp is much harder to scratch.
If you can afford the DS, get it. It's big and heavy, but it isn't like it's game gear sized, and it has plenty of good games.
