I just got a new dunlop Cry baby for X mAs. So I follow all the instrictions. (installed a brand new 9 volt battery) got it all hooked up but it didn't seem to work. Should it imediatly change the sound? I've tried pusing the pedal down and up and stuff but nothing. So the question is "Do I Suck" or is somthing wrong with the actual pedal?

Try pushing down on the pedal till you hear a click or something like that. it's tricky for me too. If nothing works send it back i guess.

Let me ask you this....did you hook it up to your amp properly? Check your jack input and output, you may have your instrument and amp cables mixed around. Check to see if there is a solid connection between the stomp plate and the little on/off switch. Manually click the switch and see if it will come on.

Yes I tried that. I pluged my guitar in and with the same cord plugged it into the pedal where it says "instrumment". then plugged a cord into the other side of the pedal where it says "amplifier" and with the same cord plugged into my amp. Just like it said to do. I could get a clean tone fine but no wah. I tried everything. pushing the little button at the toe of the pedal etc. but nothing changed.
so guitar shop here we come

Yeah that is your best bet then. If you bought it new, it is probably something as simple as a wire that came unsoldered. Just have them take a look, or take it back completely...

You sure your cables are good/plugged in ALL the way, for sure? That's happened to me before. More than once.
I was going to suggest checking the whole instrument/amplifier thing, 'cause that's what it was for me when I got my first got a wah pedal. Ah, the good old days.

For me, the button at the toe was pressed.
Is it a classic?
If its the 535Q then there is this volume knob that might be the cause

Is there a powerswitch?
If there is, put it to the "on" position.
I know it seems patronizing but it happens a lot.

EXACT same thing happened to me, got a brand new cry baby original wah from musiciansfriend .com for christmas, and the thing donesn't work, and yes, i pluged it in correctly, i used a charged 9-volt, and i got nothing. i tried pressing the button manualy untill it cliked , but the wah still didnt' work, i'm returning mine, and gtting a new one, oh, btw, the box that the wah came in had a sizeable dent in it, like something heavy had been droped on it,
