I'd suggest staying with the P style because that tends to be pretty big in the punk scene.
But as far as individual pickups, just read reviews at harmony-central.com and bgra.net

You should ask in the Seymour Duncan forums, they will give you concrete answers not crappy responses like most of the time around here, they also recomended me a bunch of DiMarzio pups.

I'll try and find out which ones Jerry Only has in his... good luck with the project by the way, Jerry's my idol and I'd love to do what you're doing! :thumb:
I met Jerry in October after the 'fits gig. Very, very nice guy!

awesome thanks a lot! ive been looking for days and i think he might be using 4 emgs. im not sure if im going to do that though. i think i might buy some dimarzios precisions. another thing i cant figure out is where he mounted his output. is it on the back? maybe ill put one of those angled strat style outputs on the back, what do you think?

Ok, I've managed to find a lot out for you :)
The body of the original is graphite, and it has no volume or tone knobs. The jack is indeed on the back.
His pickups are EMG (source photo- http://www.superiornet.net/art/linton/Music/Fits1GP.jpg)
I hope I've helped you out! :)
Good luck, and gimme some pictures when you're done! :naughty:

yes that helped! i had no idea it was graphite. so yeah i guess the jack will be put on the back.
im definetly going to make a thread once its done, im going to be taking pictures after each step!

Since that is Jerry's bass, it would make sense to use a similar pickup setup. I think he uses double P emg pickups in his.

Looking sweet as so far! :thumb:
I'm gonna build myself a custom. That's my new year's resolution. Something... original. My own creation. Probs similar electronics to the devastator. I'm guessing something modeled after an explorer.

Hey, it works for what i need...Anyway, i can boost mids from my fender if i need them. That EQ has so much boom, yet a hell of a lot of projection with that amp...

im thinking one set of passive EMGPHZ would that be a good choice? or do you think active electronics would be better?

if you're set on going with P style pickups, you should do a reverse P. You'll get a much more even tonal response across the strings doing it that way.

It probably DOES sound awesome... it's gotta make up for being so fugly somehow!
A PJ combo wouldn't work in a devastator... Jerry Only prefers his PP combo... in any other bass, it is pretty damn sexy! (even though I'm a stingray/S.U.B person)

Well if your going for his copy exactly then that is what you would do, but if you wanted to add some of your own style to it...

I'm pretty sure Jerry Only sig has its flaws. Don't make an exact copy, can you get sued for that? Anyways, the body looks awesome :thumb:
