Help with 7 string...

I just got an Ibanez 7 string and theres a problem with it...I Cant play Anything below the 5th fret...It just plays the same exact note for each fret below the 5th, Everything from the 6th fret on works perfectly...Are there any common problems with any type of guitar that would cause this?

You're action is too low or the truss rod is not set properly. I read that if it frets out on the higher frets, it's you're action and if it frets out right down on the lower strings it the rod, could be bull though, not sure.

Try raising the action a little bit to see if it makes a difference.

If not

Do not even think about touching the truss rod yourself, take the guitar to a technician.

im gonna guess the fifth fret is too high. try putting a ruler up against your fretboard and if you can pivot it around the fifth fret then its too high, if you get what i mean. i dunno what you can do about it though, id take it to my local shop and get them to do it
