Wow! He plays the same beat over and over again with a couple different bass drum hits..... I love how he flails his whole arm to play each note on the hi-hats. The recording is so terrible too, the sound of the cymbals just makes me sick

thats pretty much a barker solo.
Right before the whole band jumps in he does the "I Feel So" snare solo from Boxcar Racer.
It wasnt bad though..

That was murder on my ears, with a few moments of excrutiating pain, but at least it was long.
To be positive. I'm sure if he got himself a metronome and worked on variety he'd wouldn't be too bad in a year or two.

haha thats what one of my friends sounds like, minus what little groove (and i mean LITTLE groove) that guy had at any time. yes, that bad. and he doesn't have the initiative to practice any fundamentals. he just sits down and plays what is present in that video. oh well, you can only give someone so much direction, then it's up to them.

Wow, his cymbals were so explosive and trashy yet clean, that was stunning... I didn't see the whole thing through because I was ready to kill myself about half way through. I can't believe I took off rush for that.

i don't know why you guys are making fun of him, dude is amazing, had a few grooving beats going on to...and those weren't "burps in time", those were highly sycopated off rhythm notes that took him forever to nail in tempo..you guys have to give him credit...

No, I'm not a very "punk" drummer. At least they way most people look at "punk". I happen to like punk music, thats where it ends. I believe those "punk beliefs" are just bullplop. Sure, I don't want to be a clone of everybody else, but I'm not gonna go around acting all "punk" just because thats "how punks behave".

This guy's pretty wicked.
Seems he got Gadds tech and Lars' tech to colaborate on tuning his snare.
LittlePound
12-24-2005, 10:59 PM
yeah hes was ok, he did have an awesome sounding snare...not liking his double bass there though...my theory is why go double when you culd single it and htose sixteenths notes were slow enough to single
Plan B.

LittlePound
12-24-2005, 11:04 PM
yeah i thougt it sounded pretty decent, especially with what he wsa recording it with (a video cam i'm assuming) those arne't very good quality anyways

Im sure, cant get any decent volume at all if you played those single footed. Even if your real pro. But, you could just be a single pedal monster! If you can play that with one pedal id like to know your technique! (im not bein an ***, i really would.)

well i'm not sitting here on my drum set right now but i went back and checked and those seem to be easy to do on single pedal...they are a little fast but i'm pretty sure i could do it...i'd have to wait until i get home (i'm at my dads house now) to check but i'm doing it with ease on the kitchen floor, anyways, i've played with single pedal the last 2 1/2 years i've been playing drums and i keep it pretty tight as to get rebound...nothing special, i'm sure others on here could do it better and faster than me
you are rght htough, it woulnd't be as loud but it'd still be audible, especially if mic'd
man if the lead singer in that vid didnt have his shirt off and have red boxers jacked up high i would of actually enjoyed it.

Yeah, if he had just started playing the drums the day before he recorded that, then it's pretty good. You don't know how long he's been playing.

I don't think it was the camera mike. the bass and toms sounded very much as if they were miced. and the snare certainly sounded like a card box, although the other drums sounded pretty good.
however, I agree on you with the single pedal thing. it definitely is possible. I can only reach somewhat steady 16ths at 80bpm with heel-toe, and those sounded like about 16ths at 100 bpm. apart from that there are enough Metal players that reach over 200 bpm for a steady roll, thus they must be playing 100 single footed anyways.
oh yeah, and the first video was teh bor3d0m. it reminded me of my playing in my first year, though, thanks for bringing back the old times. I haven't changed very much since then though. I mean sure, there are a couple of beats and licks I've learned since then, but it's still the same old thing. playing four beats, blasting out fills, ...

12-25-2005, 07:52 AM
He confuses me. He has a lot of potential. To be honest, his fills are probably faster than mine. I don't get why he would base TWO drum solos on the same crappy beat. And, his timing is off.

I liked the 7/8 one, but it was kinda boring. Need's more techniqucallity (sp?).
