marshall mg100dfx.... what im looking for mostly is pedals that would help me play hardcore with a better sound and such.

^umm, well, if you dont know what your looking for then you can get a multi.
(Get a decent one, not like a zoom or something, if its decent you can keep it.) theyre not that bad. I got one and i use it all the time. (Korg AX1500g, Boss has a better name in the Multis, The GT series... But the Korg was good enough for me.) After a while, when you know what you want you can buy the single stompboxes of the effects. (ex. Wah, Chorus, OD) Thats what i did, and am doing

if you mean hardcore like gorilla biscuits it would be easier to get the sound from the marshall, if you mean metalcore like KSE it would be harder, but thicker strings, dowtune and that kind of stuff

Could someone tell me what guitar you would use for hardcore/grind music ?
I know distortion will be needed.
I play drums but i want to start doing different stuff.

Scooping the mids a little bit on your amp will help achieve the metalcore sound. For pedals, maybe try the distortion factory pedal by Digitech. I haven't heard it, but it has i think 7 distortion models. Or if you can save up about 100 more dollars you can get a PodXT, which has quite a good reputation around here. For pickups, maybe try EMG's or Seymour(sp?) Duncans?

No, a POD would do nothing with the amp he has. That would just be a waste of money. Save for a Randall RG50TC or a Peavey XXX.

Your amp is about 50% of your tone and effects are about 15%. The amp is the most important piece of your rig and you should put the amp first before any other piece of gear.
