I was somewhat interested in seeing this movie, especially after seeing Ichi. Problem is, Blockbuster doesn't have it, and neither does any of the other video stores. My question is, is it worth ordering off E-bay and buying? Or is it more of a rental? Thanks.

Imagine how bad *** it would be to watch a movie of 42 teens put on an island, given various weapons, and forced to kill each other for three days until only one remains, would be. It's as bad *** as you would imagine.

Also check out the novel too, 600+ pages of gory detail and character development.

Yes it is worth buying. You can't find it because it isnt disributed in the U.S. unless you go to an underground movies store. Its not that they are illegal..its perfectly legal but the director jsut doesnt want to mass distribute them in the U.S. Great movie...definetely(sp?) worth a buy.

It's between the MPAA and Toei, the company that produced the movie.

Toei:
They want a full theatrical rerelease in US theaters, every single American theater would have blockbuster rights.

MPAA:
Will not allow violence that shows teens killing other teens on such a wide distribution in theaters.

So, you have to browse Amazon, now that they've been able to sell some.

I recorded it off TV onto VHS, hehe, its a pretty unique film, but pretty relentless in terms of violence. I saw some comic books with the exact same story the other day, yes, make sure you get this film, you might have to order it, though :thumb:

I have this movie, bought it from HMV about a year ago. I just watched it again last night with a couple of friends. It rocks so hard.

Battle Royale 2 sucked. We came up with a new sequal idea. It involves Kiryama travelling round the world to kill annoying celebrites in sadistic ways. Yeah, it has nothing to do with the original plot, but Kiriyama rules.

Battle Royale is kickass, and the director makes great use of contrastmusic, like Stanley Kubrick, and great choice of songs as well

oldboy is great, got myself a 3-dvd special edition a few weeks ago. Picked up Battle Royale last week for a few euros, couldnt resist getting it hehe.
