If you have an unfinished rosewood fretboard, wipe some rubbing alcohol on the frets. Use a pick to scrape off whatever gunk there is and finish it off with some lemon oil. There's no way to maintain it, but it doesn't take too long.

You don't need anything except a damp rag and plenty of elbow grease. Make sure the rag is wrung out properly before you start - since standing water can cause damage. Scrub hard, scrub fast, sorted. If it really bothers you, use some polish or something on the metal parts, but I find a damp rag is enough for me.

If you are going to re-string,nows the time to do a thorough cleaning. After string are stripped,I spray the neck with furniture polish. Then I wipe down the fret board. This gets the top gunk off.Next,I will spray a few frets at a time and take an old toothbrush and clean the heavier buildup around the frets with brush.Once they are all done.I will spay down entire fret board again to get rid of any residual gunk off.Alcohol may take the natural oils out of the board, you want a fast neck.

Another good thing to think about purchasing is GHS Fast-Fret cleaner. It is a little stick cleaner used to clean strings and brighten their sound up again. I've found its also good for just...pretty much rubbing over the entire guitar and polishing it up. Best stuff I ever bought, for like 3 dollars from Musiciansfriend.

for the body, i use high fibre cloth, very usefull, works on the metal as well.
