View Full Version : Tony Dungy's Son Found Dead
It hardly seemed to matter that the Indianapolis Colts are 13-1 rather than 14-0. Four days after their bid for a perfect season was squashed, the Colts were rocked by an even bigger loss: James Dungy, the 18-year-old son of coach Tony Dungy, was found dead in his Lutz, Fla., apartment Thursday morning.
Officials have termed the death an apparent suicide, based on evidence found at the suburban Tampa apartment where the college student lived.
"Players were surprised and upset emotionally," Colts quarterback Peyton Manning said. "Everybody said a team prayer for Coach Dungy and his family. It's laying on the hearts of all the players."
Jim Caldwell — the assistant head coach/quarterbacks coach who was formerly head coach at Wake Forest — will serve as interim coach. The Colts play at the Seattle Seahawks on Saturday.

It's a real shame really. I can't believe how Tony is feeling right now. His girlfriend left his apartment for 10 minutes at about 1 a.m. and when she came back he was found not breathing. My heart and prayers go out to Dungy and his family.

Although I'm foremost a Patriots fan, I realize what a good person and great coach Dungy is, and the hell he's experiencing. Your words are childish, immature, and down right nasty. I now hope the Colts kick seahawk ***.

So Tony Dungy has no right to mourn over this at all? You can't feel for a guy whose 18 year old son was found dead?
What the hell is your problem?

Thats not what I was saying... What I am saying is the kid was stupid for doing it ...It would be diff. if it was a homicide or disease etc.
I know this sounds harsh but its the truth . Tony Dungy by all means has a right to mourn over his deceased son and am not saying i'm glad the kids dead but i find it ignorant that he took his own life.

It has to be really hard to get over something like this. I mean you don't usually see teenagers just unexpectedly dying.

I too have never understood why people commit suicide. It just seems...over-dramatic. Maybe that isn't the right word I'm looking for, but I mean seriously, life is hard sometime. But never, ever, ever, is it hard enough to where you should take your life. I also think that kids who take their lives are selfish, but I don't mean to bash. I feel sorry for Dungy, but let's be optimistic: it couldn't have come at a better time. He has a couple weeks to mourn where the games don't matter for the Colts, then it's back to the game for the playoffs.

Well, they still didn't kick the Seahawks' asses, like those guys hoped.

I'm a little disgusted with how little compassion people are showing. It doesn't matter if you love or hate the Colts, but suicide is tragic and I would have thought that everyone would understand that and feel bad for Dungy and his team.

It doesn't change the fact that you're a douchebag.

random bumpage?
Anyways, they finally released the cause of death, he hung himself, at least according to the 911 call. I'd really like to know why though, he seemed like he had a pretty awesome life...
