There is a chord that Opeth uses in The Drapery Falls and also, John Petrucci talks about it in his video, but he doesn't say what the name of it is. The chord in question uses the root, 5th, and 9th. It's just a power chord with an added 9th. This is what it looks like:
x
x
7
5
3
x
The only think I could come up with is G5/C. Technically, I guess that could be right, but does it have another name?

For future reference, use powertab.
Click on the icon at the top next to the red guitar, click New Chord Diagram and put in the frets of the chord you want, it will tell you most of the possible names for it.

Oh, I have powertab, but I didn't know how to do that. Thanks.

Damn, that was fast. What's the no3?
It means the third of the chord is missing or omitted.

Ah, I thought that might be it.

Why not Csus2? It's C,G,D. Is it to do with the order or just an alternative name.

Brian, yes,
The chord: C,G,D
is technically a Csus2(no3)
Remember, it's not a 9 until there is another tension tone.
C6/9 would contain both the A and the D
C9 must contain the 7th, since it's the only tension tone under the 9th.
C11 must contain the 7th and/or 9th, otherwise it is a Csus4
C13 must contain the 7th and/or 9th, and/or 11th, otherwise it is a C6

My name is Simon, btw, not Brian (or Brain, as it says <<).
What do you mean by tension notes? The added notes (7,11,13)? Becuase I thought you could just have Cadd9, as Eggo said, with just the 9 in there?
Whats this C6/9 dealy? Is that where you have C, with 6 above nine on the right hand side?

Simon, sorry for the delay - I didn't see your answer until now.
Tension tones begin with the 7th, then 9th, 11th, 13th.
If it's a 9th, then the 7th is implied. If there is no 7th, then it can't be considered a 9th. It would be a sus2.
Same as an 11th. If there is no 7th or 9th, then it can't be considered an 11th. It would then be a sus4.
Same with the 13th. If there is no 7th and/or 9th, and/or 11th, then the 13th is merely a 6th chord.

Simon, to construct Cadd9, you need to have four notes:
1 3 5 9
Which could... sorta.. alternatively be
1 2 3 5
In this chord there is only
1 5 9 ... or
1 2 5
There is no third there, which is required for you to have an add9. So it's an sus2 instead (which has no third).
Make sense?
EDIT: oo, missed the 6/9 question.
What you're thinking of is "figured bass". This is where a chord in first inversion has a little 6 next to it, second inversion has 6/4, etc.
Nah, when both a major sixth and a major ninth are added to a major or minor triad the chord is called a 6/9 chord.
e.g. C 6/9 = C E G A D

Trea, did you hear the metal_thingy.mp3 that I made earlier? The sound is trashy, timing is off, but I think I might include more mp3's with examples

Nah I didn't listen to it - everyone else is still in bed so I didn't think it was a great idea to start listening to any audio.
Yeah, my mic is horrible, but every now and then I'll do a quick audio sample for someone. It's good if it's needed... just don't leave it all up to the audio to explain everything, because quite a few people here have dial-up.

its a bad way to play a Csus2, the sus2 has no third, its a root, 2nd or ninth and a 5th.
and easier way to play the chord is.
e-3
b-3
g-5
d-5
a-3
