Well im recording an acoustic song,and im wondering,the mic id have is a no name mic and im wondering would it matter a large difference,if i have a better mic.(shure 58) i hook the mic to my ocmputer put it on a book and start playing/singing,and my singing sounds alot worse.does it matter what mic you have?

The mic you have matters... A LOT! However..
If you get the same sound from your no name mic as you would get from a shure sm58, or any other mic, go with the no name mic 'cause there's no brains in getting something more expensive if you end up with the same result anyhow.

It matters a lot. If you feel the current one you have doesn't record very well, I guess you could a new one, but if it just lowers the quality a little, don't bother, especially for acoustic since it's not like you're playing extremely loud.
