Hey I have seen alot of these but not a jazz one. This is how it works (if you dont know). I will name some cds or some people can request some cds. Some one will upload them on rapidshare (no limits on downloading). You will post your Email address and i will send the link or the guy that uploaded it can. I am willing to upload some cds seeing I got some free time or Send all the links. So Lets brain storm a bit about what cds we want to put up.

I must say I disapprove of this mailing list. Yousendit threads were banned from the forums, mainly due to the fact that the forums do not wish to be labeled as a forums dedicated to illegal file sharing. By having this mailing list, although the file sharing isn't happening directly through the forums, it is being advertised through the forums, which is just as inappropriate.

Now for my rant against actually file sharing:

file sharing is theft. there I said it. If you're going to download pop music, I hate pop music, so fine, even though i oppose that as well. But jazz?? ****ing jazz?? This is slightly ridiculuous but I"m going to say it: think about the stereotypical jazz musician.
I mean seriously, CD's are expensive, but they're not that expensive. NOw many argue. "But these artists are so rich! THe record company execs get all the money! I'm doing this out of principle!" I hate that argument, due to the fact that you're doint something illegal (ignoring actual morals for a second), to protest, when you can just as easily protest without doing it. Refuse to buy albums. Send letters. WHatever.

Most of the musicians we're uploading and downloading from are dead anyway and I don't see how they're familes deserved the money. I'm much to broke to spend my money on overpriced CD's anyway. I'm pretty sure they'll have to stop music uploads on YSI some time.

Select the folder you want then go File>Send To>Compressed (zipped) folder

Then go to www.yousendit.com.
Put my email adress(bournsy4@hotmail.com) into the first field and click the Browse button beside the 2 field. Choose newly created zipped file, and press OK. Then click the Send It button at number 3.

There's also Megaupload (kinda slow), Rapidshare (limits how much you can download), and some other ones but Yousendit seems to work the best.

oh my, the list certainly jumped up. I hope this means we can get a whole bunch more albums. And Mike, we have a problem with expiring links, which is why I will be sending them out on the basis of time. I think tommorow I will send it out, so everyone try to get them in soon.

By The Way: The albums don't need to be purely jazz, if people would like to use this to request other albums as well, or fringe material, that will work fine as well. I'll be uploading a Sonic Youth album that is in a form of free jazz mixed with feedback. I reccomend it to anyone who likes really strange music.
