Have any of you guys had to undergo "initiation" when joining a new sports team? Basically just share stories of you being initiated, seeing other people getting initiated, and rumours of people being initiated on to teams.

Also, have any of you guys heard of initiation on pro teams like in the NHL, NFL, and such?

*shrug*

Never had/did anything bad....hotbox on the bus, that's about as extreme as it got. made the rookies carry bags, pick new guys up at the airport, stuff like that. Vets got toget on the bus first, eat first, etc. Vets got to room 2 to a hotel room and rooks went 3 to a room. Nothing too fancy, or bad, when I played hockey.

You have harmless initiations like shaving of the head, getting tied to the goalposts naked or like the posts above and then you have some extreme ones that take it too far. Ex.McGill (keep bringing that up because i cant remember anything else :))

Just harmless initiation being a rookie on the football team, like having to do whatever the seniors tell you. This year though, I r no longer a rookie!

lol no problem. But even being a rookie, I started both ways in almost every game. Played Fullback and D-End, then again this was Canadian Football:lol: . But we are one of the top in Alberta...

From what I heard, a rookie basically got raped by a broomstick by a few seniors, but later reports said it wasn't that serious. It did involve a rookie and a broomstick though.

I heard that a while ago, the San Fransico Giants made all the rookies paint the horse of a famous general on this statue orange and black...

Whew, I played for the year older A team last night in hockey and nothing happened to me. I got a goal, got to wear the C, and made friends with the assistant captain. So I'm glad I didn't have to get initiated

Generally not alot of this stuff in hockey. Mostly pretty laid back, although the Windsor Spitfires coach did get fired earlier this season for a hazing incident.

I read that too. Was it that there was a bunch of rookies stuffed into the bus bathroom naked together or something??

Pretty much...it's a standard thing really...half an hour in the hotbox or sweatbox or whatever the team likes to call it. The problem was that one of the rooks wouldnt do it, then got into a fight with a vet the next day at practice. the Coach tried to send him home or trade him for not going quietly, then a big ****storm started, and the coach got fired and the team nearly imploded. When initiation goes horribly wrong, you might say.
