View Full Version : The NFL is (possibly) rigged!

I've never been one to say something is rigged or fake at the drop of a hat, but the other day on Monday Night Football I noticed something totally bizarre and which serves no other explanation. In the press box, where Al and John are broadcasting from, you can occasionaly here an errant scream or yell from whomever is next door to them. In Monday's case I think it was the Raven's offensive staff, because whenever something offensively critical happened, a loud voice could be heard through Al or John's mic.

Now here's where the fun begins. Once in a while you could make out these words, and it seemed often they were something like "Away!" or "Gone!" And just as these sounds could be heard a Baltimore reciever would turn his head! and sure enough the ball was right in his grasp upon turning around.

Are the recievers wearing recievers (the radio kind) in their helmets? I'll admit it is making alot of assumptions, but its not totally unfounded, I don't think there are equipment checks before every game eh?

No, it's more than likely that those were radio broadcasters in the next booth. The radio broadcasters know when a man is open and surely when they are going to catch the ball and score a touchdown.

Radio receivers in helmets are not allowed to transmit during play... only before the play.

I have no doubt that there is cheating going on in all sports, but I think it's based on players rigging it themselves - ie intentionally playing poorly or fumbling here or taking a foul there or striking out. Using electronic devices or call signals is too complicated and easy to catch, when a player can just drop a ball and blame it on bad luck.

Yep, just like them Houston Texans. The acutally won a game though so there goes my Theory that they throw the games.

People are commonly mistaken about throwing games. You don't need to mess up or "accidentaly" drop the ball to fix a game. You just have to make sure that you cover the point spread. Thats why you sometimes see people who have thrown games score alot of points.

Like kickers shaving points.

Lol, that would be pretty hard. Especially if the offense didnt give the kicker a chance to kick it.
