View Full Version : how would i play live?
okay so i have a couple bands, but i find some small creative differences cause huge problems. mainly, im the only one who writes lyrics and the band ays they would be imbarresed to sing and play songs to them. I was thinking about doing a solo project... but i have a couple of questions. how would i play live?
i know how to record stuff with mics and mixers there is not a problem with all that junk.
another thing, i have a hard time singing... i have a hard time talking, but i would like to try this, how do you reccomend i learn to sing and play guitar correctely to keys and chords and all that shiza.
if you can help, thanks

I too became frustrated iwht wokring with other musicians and trying to convey ideas, and now do everything solo. I don't have any percussion or vocals on any of my songs so far because i can't play/don't have drums and i haven't felt the need for singing so far.
I can't see me ever being able to play live, not even with loopers and all that stuff. But I write music because i enjoy it, and if sometimes someone finds my myspace and enjoys it too, that makes it all the more worthwhile.
You could write and record a full album, and than put together a backing band for live playing. zfmt and the keyboard mashing band, or words ot that tune.

look in merkabas help line and just follow all the steps. Since you have problems talking and singing read about the warmups that involve talking fast and getting appropriate sounds. Also just go up and down the fretboard and try to match the notes. Start at open E and work your way up. Good luck! Oh i dont know how you would play live. Maybe you should just stick to a band.

I'm also a solo artist. I record all my albums at home, in my project studio. However, when I play live, I make a CD of all of the backing tracks to my songs, minus the lead guitar and vocals. Then I simply get my audio engineer to play the tracks. This way I have full acompaniment, and my songs sound their best, without having to compete with a full live band all the time.
That said, any sizable gigs, I still get a couple of musicians together to form a backup band, simply because there just something to a live band that you just don't get from recorded tracks.

i occasionally write a song or two of my own, but due to lack of knowledge about drums i ask one of my friends to write drums for me. if i was going to play live, i'd ask friends/ hire some guys to play backing for me
POST #100!!!
