Woody Guthrie was so awesome. I'm listening to Dust Bowl Ballads right now, soooo good. Discuss.

"This song is Copyrighted in U.S., under Seal of Copyright # 154085, for a period of 28 years, and anybody caught singin' it without our permission, will be mighty good friends of ours, cause we don't give a darn. Publish it. Write it. Sing it. Swing to it. Yodel it. We wrote it, that's all we wanted to do."

One of my favourite quotes of all time. I have his Library of Congress recordings, Asch recordings, Dust Bowl Ballads and Ballads of Sacco and Vanzetti. He is truly legendary. I saw his autobiography in a shop the other day and was pissed off I didn't have the money for it.

There's some more great quotes here: http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Woody_Guthrie

He's fantastic. I have the first volume of the Asch recordings, and I love it.
