View Full Version : Yo, dudes: I request your help. *ZELDA.*

Sade

Aye, I'm in need of some assistance.

I am looking for a decent tab of the main, overworld Zelda melody. The one most everybody is familiar with. I can't seem to dig one out of anywhere, and with this new "tab ban..." I can't find a darn thing.

If anybody knows the main melody, I request it. It's for good cause! I'm organizing a tapped composition of all the Zelda melodies. Including Zelda's Lullaby, The Overworld Theme, and the Underworld theme. Perhaps some more tapped ocarina songs if I can find them.

I don't need the melody tabbed out in any specific key or notation. I'm looking for just the simple note progression, so I can put it into a tapping format. Aye, thanks.

Sade

^Don't give me any crap about the tab thread, that thing is useless and everybody on this forum knows it.

Besides, I'm asking for help with the melody really..not a tablature. (Although, it's what I imply...)

Oh well, screw it. Just give me the darn melody and be done with it.

This will no doubt be a challenge to arrange polyrhythmically. I can say that much for certain. It's very do-able, though. :thumb:

I nailed down Zelda's lullaby last night. Started doing the underworld theme, too. They're coming along quite nicely.

I hope I can produce and arrange this before that darn Jean Baudin posts his version. :upset:

Did you look at any guitar pro sites?

Sade
12-19-2005, 10:58 AM
I don't really use programs like that. I'm a pretty linear guy when it comes to tablature...

I'm adlibing alot of stuff from the overworld theme. I have to downplay the bassline to individual notes, as I can't physically do the reaches and have it sound decent enough with the melody. It'll sound fine, I think though.

I play it on a 6er, yes; but it is possible on a 4 string.

I also have my funky little tapped star wars theme, too. Haha, it's fun to play. Pretty easy, too; if you have good control of both of your hands.

They are quite amazing, indeed.

I really dig the FFVII music, too. I tapped out the main menu theme a while ago. I can't really remember how to play it, though...maybe I'll look into that.

Like, a whole lot?

When people say "they were going to do things."

I "was gonna" learn to play an exceptionally complicated song, but then I didn't. I "was gonna" learn how to polyrhythmically tap out complex patterns, but I didn't. As if it were so easy for you morons, who couldn't play the intro to classical thump if the entire forum said you could, over and over again, in every possible thread.

Aye, perhaps I'm ranting; but if you havn't done something...please don't say you have. It just makes me so upset.

On a lighter note, the Song of Time, Bolero of Fire, and the Kokiri Forest/Lost Woods theme are pretty do-able.

:naughty: :naughty:

I have about 5 of the Zelda songs down (all from the SNES version) arranged in a medley. Overworld, in the town, forest, when you go in a fairy cave, and the desert dungeon (bottom left corner on the map).

I've got a Final Fantasy medley and Castlevania medley thing too. And the mario one of course (which you guys have only seen the first part).

I'll probably hold off posting videos cause everytime I've done one it's been rushed (I don't own any video equipment) and people whine about it. - I don't practice cover songs unless I'm actually going to record it - usually, I just figure them out and forget them.

so no worries, Sade.

I am The General.

Much unlike the plethora of angsty little children suffering extreme Baudin envy, I actually plan to review the tab not to learn it, but to get a better understanding of your style.

I enjoy doing that, examining the fundamentals of bass players styles. Trying to get into MY head what gets into THEIR heads. It's a very emotional experiance, attaching yourself to the musical mindset players endure. I hope to do that with your pieces, as well. I've deemed you a pretty darn good player, I must admit!

Just a general tab (for 11 strings, doesn't bother me at all; I don't actually plan on learning it) for a piece of yours. Vanishing preferrably. It doesn't have to be perfect at all, I'd just like to "get into your head" a little more.

Do you absolutely need an 11? I thought I might try it out, but if there's no point, I won't.

But I figured out most of Frosty Acres can be played on a 6 string or downtuned 5, of course you have to leave out the notes you play on the F# string, and the positions are incredibly awkward.

Why don't you try figuring it out yourself, it doesn't seem that hard. The great thing about the 11 string is that the high and low strings have such a different tone it's easy to tell each hand apart.

Title: Zelda’s Lullaby
Tabber: Sade
Date: 12/20/05

This is a pretty linear tune, once you get the hang of it. Simplistic approach: play all the melody notes with your plucking hand, all the arpeggios with your fretting hand.

Main Part:
G-15-------18\\\13-------------15-------18\\\13-----
G-------11-----------9---15/17-------11-----------9-
D----11------------9--------------11------------9---
A—-9-------------7--------------9-------------7-----

C-15-------18///21-----20-18--------16-15-13-----
G-------11-----------9----------11-------------9-
D----11------------9---------11--------------9---
A—-9-------------7---------9---------------7-----

Second Part:
C-18-------16-15-16-15-13--------16------15-16-15-13-------
G-------11------------------9------------------------13----
D----11-------------------9-----------11------------------9
A—-9--------------------7----------11-------------------9--
E--------------------------------9--------------------7----

The Kakariko village theme is just a matter of converting the guitar chords to tapped lines. Won't take me too long.

And I'll say it: The Song of Storms is HARD. Touchstyling that tune will not be an easy task.

Aye, here's the first part of the Kakariko Village theme. (the chordial guitar part in the backround, behind the melody.)

The Bolero of Fire is proving to be pretty tough, too. It's not a linear song by any means, and the parts are just so chaotic; it's hard to decide to play. Aye, I'll work on it though.

I need a tab of the underworld theme. The one from the original Zelda series whenever you went into an "evil" place or dungeon.

So far, I've got Zelda's Lullaby, The Hyrule Field Theme, The Overworld Theme, and the Kakariko Village Theme arranged in a medley. I need some more comprehensive tabs of the Bolero of Fire, though...can somebody send me a Word Document with a tab? (hates Guitar Pro.)

Aye, darr she blows; the rest of the Kakariko Village Theme.

The tuning...is weird. This is the most comforatable pattern I could dream up. I havn't been able to play it, yet...this is pure speculation.

Plus, I'm bored as all hell.

Do you absolutely need an 11? I thought I might try it out, but if there's no point, I won't.

But I figured out most of Frosty Acres can be played on a 6 string or downtuned 5, of course you have to leave out the notes you play on the F# string, and the positions are incredibly awkward.

I think you can pull off a pretty convincing version of Vanishing on a 6-string. You would just start at the 21st fret on the C string. The open notes would be wrong, but they are still in key. Also, the 2nd part of the theme would need to be transposed down an octave.

and here's a midi: http://e.1asphost.com/funkmetalbass/Bauding-Vanishing/vanishing.mid

All I have is whatever I posted the tabs for. You'll have to continue it yourself.

Pretty close (some of the notes are off), but playing it this way would be really hard. Take the melody to the C string and use C, G, and D strings.... the bass part moves away from it so it is possible to play both. I'd video it - but I quit videos.

I put a gameboy version on myspace. played on the conklin midi/sig bass. :)

Mind telling me which notes were off? I'm not exactly sure which ones.

I only posted it so akwardly because when I put it into guitar pro and then converted it to a 7-string, it positioned it like that.

Don't know about you, but I find it difficult to tap frets 19-24 on my bass.

Are there any lessons around here on how to 2-hand tap properly? I don't do it as I can't seem to figure out how to make it work, but I'd like to learn. I tried the search function, yet it is not my friend. Any tips/links?
