i hav some "DR Black Beauty Extra Life" strings, and i was wondering if i boiled them would all the black come off?

Aren't they similar to Elixir Nanowebs? The coating would suffer, I think.

depends on whether the colour comes from a coating or from a compound inside the metal that the strings made of (maybe some soret of special alloy).

I don't think a coating would survive, so I reckon look it up on th DR website

Ive always assumed that when it comes to the DR color strings, the focus on the look would shed off the quality of the strings, but Ive never played them, so my question is:

How do you like them?

I'll look for them on the string reviews

Edit: Wasnt there a thread that focused on string reviews? I cant find it.

its a coating, so i imagine itd come off. I really like them, they're much brighter than my old strings, and i feel they're nicer on my fingers, on both hands.

Wouldn't boiling them just take off the coating, making them just normal strings?

It could possibly take off the coating, depending on how water-resistant it is (a fair amount I expect, otherwise moisture in the air or sweat could easily take it off).

But sweat and moisture in the air isn't boiling. I would have thought it would just take off the coat, and leave you with normal strings.

how long have you had them? most of the coating on mine is gone just due to normal playing.

Ewww, black beauties. For about a week or two, they're the greatest sounding strings ever, imo, then they just die more than I've ever seen strings die before (yeah, I watch strings die, as a hobby. I know this stuff). I don't think boiling would do much. And you definately wouldn't want to boil those in a pot that you'll ever use for food.
