That's good. I've always despised drinking since I was younger. I've tried to be vegetarian but it just didn't work for me. I don't eat much meat though.

It's good that you follow all of those things and aren't straight edge. At least you aren't like the people that do it because they look at what straight edge is and they're like, "Oh, I'm straight edge, I guess." Pretty dumb.

Caffeine isn't completly harmless, so you know. It's not as bad as drinking other substances but it does harm your body. My grandma just had a crapload of heart problems because she drinks coffee, that has caffeine in it. Caffeine is like cocaine, only less harmful, it speeds up your body and does a lot of damage to your heart.

Whiteminority: If I have my history correct. When the whole edge thing started... that is what straightedge was. As long as you didn't go crazy with it, you can be edge... because that's what it was against. However... it got more intense as time went by.

Plants give you simple amino acids. Meats give you complicated amino acids. You body needs both to build muscle properly.

i don't usually get involved in these discussions, as i've never even thought about being edge. none of my friends are edge either, so it's a pretty distant concept for me. but i think you make great points. if somebody is doing it to be healthy, then drinking occasionally in moderation won't negatively affect their health at all. and shouldn't they also be working out, running, cutting out fats and processed foods from their diet, ect. for many it seems to be almost a religion, and i don't understand it either. i just don't get what the point of it is for people that seem to view it in that manner.

Obviously we both feel strongly about our opinions, but let us simply take the others into consideration and agree that everyone is entitled to their opinion.

I can't find anything to disagree with here. You highlighted what straightedge is and how it is beneficial. I, personally, don't adhere because it's not something I need and I don't over indulge in alcohol. I do agree that others use drugs as a crutch. It's just a different way out, I suppose. My escape is the music and I find it much better that way than going out to get doped up. But hey, I ain't never done the latter, but I don't plan on it.

Dairy products in particular have a strong and complex arrangement which leads to most people getting sick from having a lot of cheese or ice cream or milk. If you get free farm meat that hasn't been injected with horomones, you're not only supporting a good cause, but you're eating healthy meat. Your body HAS the capacity to break down beef and chicken. Dairy is something else. Free farm milk is still composed of lactose and all that garbage and frankly, it's never gonna be good for humans. Granted you won't get cancer and you aren't drinking pus, it's still not the way to go IMO. But it is worth emphasizing, if you purchase the proper meat, you CAN be healthy. Meat isn't bad for you. It's the processed, horomonized meat that is and because kids eat it all the time, they grow bigger and quicker than they used to.

edit: i'm not trying to say taht you can't be healthy without it, i'm just saying that a sensible diet that includes some meat is in no way less healthy than a similarly sensible vegan diet. so if the point is merely to be healthy, what would make one choose veganism?

I see where yer getting at, but hardline aint the same as racism. I don't like hardline at all, never have, but I like SSD musically and most of their lyrics. They didnt ruin the scene by sparking hardline, they simply created hassle for us to keep our image clean. most hardliners have died down already or broken edge. hardline is a joke.
