Marathon is better than Planet Mental. Planet Mental was straight up medicore. Mental were supposed to be about running around your house like an idiot and having fun. They made it too complex with PM, and that makes it no fun.

That's extremely insulting. Mental play extremely standard straight forward hardcore. That's fine. They threw in gay singy parts for some reason. That's lame. Killing the Dream actually know how to play. Musically they're superior. Mental sing about **** they don't mean. I've never seen a singer get as into it as Eli. Eli's voice is cool. Greg sounds like a literally mentally retarded surfer.

Here's why: they incorporated aspects of Supertouch, Quicksand, Bad Brains, and others into their music on this album instead of sticking with what they were doing before. Killing The Dream's new album is boring as hell because it's exactly the same thing they've been doing all along. I don't see how Mental's music is straightforward at all, to tell you the truth. Maybe their old stuff was, but Planet Mental certainly isn't.

That was Mental. They were a stupid fun hardcore band, and they lost it. If they wanted to be a serious band then lyrics like that and a singer like Greg don't work too well.

I love SIS and I love my Favorite Words, but listening to the cd, it just becomes too much of the same thing over and over. You're the only person here who's seen Set It Straight as many or more times than I have, so you know fully well that so much of what makes them so awesome is their live show, which is why they are my favorite band. They really needed to stop singing solely about straight edge an album earlier to make My Favorite Words unforgettable. In every aspect, the split is so much better than MFW.

And I loved Wake The Dead. I can't see how you can say it is such a bad album.

Wake the Dead isn't bad, it's not better than good though.

I agree, if the split were a full length it could easily be album of the year. That's probably the best hardcore I've ever heard from a musical standpoint. I've actually only seen them twice, but I know what you mean about that too, they are insane. I'm just surprised you like WTD so much.
