I could suggest using your imagination from to create a melody, then write it down.
But you could always try picking out notes from the chords you're playing and singing those?
Better yet, expand it more by choosing an apropriate scale!
Hope that helps

Ermm...I'm a natural singer, don't know how to read notes or anything and never a music class before in my life (retarded school + retarded country) so I can't provide any professional help. Anyway just do whatever feels right, try using one of the generic vocal patterns and play with that (without sounding retarded) till you get something new. I'm sure you'll be satisfied with one of the things you get and if you don't, ask for somebody else's opinion and see what they say about it. Good Luck.

I sometimes have that problem too..sometimes when I'm improvising on guitar i've found that the melodies i come up with are bland and repetitive. If you're talking about singing, try just experimenting with creating a melody of the key that your chords are in on the piano or guitar or whatever instrument you play, and then try to sing it. Use different octaves and so on, depending on your vocal ability. Try new stuff and just let it flow :thumb: Hope that made sense.

Well im in a band that there is more screaming then singing, but with our melodies its all about timing, make sure the times go with it first then get the notes would be my overall suggestion.

Learn modes and maybe try writing in a foreign key to you.
The easiest way imo to remember modes is.
MODES
W= Whole Note H=Half note
Pick your root note then follow the pattern.
W W H W W W H – Ionian (Major)
W H W W W H W – Dorian
H W W W H W W - Phrygian
W W W H W W H - Lydian
W W H W W H W - Mixolydian
W H W W H W W – Aeolian (Minor)
H W W H W W W - Locrian
