body/neck: a moist cloth
fretboard: lemon oil (any guitar store has it)
frets: steel wool (fine grade) then metal polish
strings: biol 'em, or buy some new ones (i personally hate the sound after boiling strings- it's too tinny)

I don't really like a 'tinny sound' on a bass either, I like it when the strings have been worn for a bit and they sound meatier.

Don't use lemon oil if your fretboard is maple.

For my fretboard I use lemon oil, for my bass' body (wood; mahogany) I use Jim Dunlop "Picker's Pal Guitar Polish".

For frets you can use things like Brasso if you are very careful not to let it stay on the fretboard itself.

I use a toothpick to clear away the stuff that accumulates on the frets, being careful not to touch the fretboard so I don't scratch it.

I use lemon oil every once in a while on my fretboards. It gives them a beautiful dark look.

For the bodies and necks I use Windex first and then follow with GHS Guitar Gloss (polish). I use the gloss on the hardware too; it gives it a great shine.

I wipe down my strings with a towel every once in a while, but I've never boiled them or cleaned them heavily; I just replace them.
