I'm not sure how this will fly, but here goes. Just talk about your favorite local bands, and give links to some of their songs if possible.
You can also talk about some cool local shows you're planning to go to/have been to.
And since this is the punk forum, they should probably be something with a punk or ska sound.
I'll start by saying my favorite (and only non-terrible) local band is The Midnight Cowboys (formerly Insurgents). They're a pretty cool punk outfit from my town, and all they guys go to my school.
Here (http://www.myspace.com/themidnightcowboys) is a link to their myspace. They're playing a show here January 7 with F.O.D. and I can't ****ing wait.

Oh, I figured I should mention the local band that won the battle of the bands here, for a reference as to how shitty our scene is.

Note - The Midnight Cowboys did not play at this battle, since it consisted of all bands like the above.

Punk? Here? Hah!
Ok, I exagerated. There's the Freeze. They're AMAZING. I have never been able to find a MySpace or an official website. I think they might sell cds elsewhere, I'm not sure.
Then there's the Emergency Guns. http://www.myspace.com/theemergencyguns
They're good, even though they basically want to be Choking Victim.
But they're really good.
And this band, Burn Me Down, is metal, but amazing.

http://www.myspace.com/agonyrevisited
And there's my band, The Cranks (Sorry if we're not supposed to do this).

There's no drums on any of the stuff yet, and the recordings are a touch old, so we're better now.

Lots of good new & old-school punk in Olympia.
Fitz of Depression: Old-School Oly punk who've been chugging along since the early 90's
http://www.myspace.com/fitzofdepression
Greenwich Meantime: A Bass & Drum two piece fronted by a well known bartender
http://www.myspace.com/isforgreenwichmeantime
Joey Casio: Joey is basically a punk frontman who opted to used various Casio beat machines to lay his songs down, total dance-punk
http://www.myspace.com/joeycasio
Lost Cause: Another bartender fronted band, they both work at the same bar. These guys are ok though a tad pop-punk for me
http://www.myspace.com/lostcauseolympia
Rocket Attack: About the only Power Violence band in the South Puget Sound, they did a show this Wednesday with Iron Lung from Seattle.
http://www.myspace.com/rocketattack
Hook & the Daggers: And my favorite, speedy *** thrash punk dubbed Ballroom Thrash, these three neer' do wells got me back into shows downtown and have a great live show.
http://www.myspace.com/hookandthedaggers
And if you ever check Myspace's Punk bands in Olympia (Zip 98501) you should know that the other 40 bands listed have been there for a year and the vast majority of them have never bothered gigging. Kinda sad.

Manic Sewing Circle
A good local ska-punk band. Unfortunately they only have "new album samplers" on their myspace right now, so you'll only be able to hear little snipets of their songs. I'm seeing them on the 28th with Mustard Plug and some other bands. Should be a good show. http://www.myspace.com/manicsewingcircle

Not many bands actually IN my town, but there's always Winnipeg, a 2 hour drive away. In winnipeg we've got:
PROPAGANDHI (http://www.propagandhi.com)...if you haven't heard of them, where the hell have you been for the past 16 years?
No Hope (http://www.myspace.com/nohopesoldout) - Fast music with balls...what more can be said?
The Hot Live Guys (http://www.hotliveguys.ca) - Like their site says, they are garage punk LEGENDS around here. They put on a hell of a live show.
That's all I'm posting for now. Yes, they're local.

The Naked Skanks (http://www.myspace.com/thenakedskanks) - BIG Punk band around here. They've played with The Adicts, Cockney Rejects, Pork Dukes, and almost G.B.H.
They're largly influenced by 70's-80's Punk/Oi!/Street Punk. They put on one hell of a show, and their cover of "Making Bacon" is just superb. IMO they're a band worth listening to.
