SO, Christmas is coming up soon, and drums are first on my wanting list. I haven't been playing too long at all, but I want a fairly nice electronic kit that will last me a long time. I would also like a good double bass pedal setup, but before you all say I don't need it, my mother doesn't like buying one thing knowing it will be replaced. The double bass pedal will allow for both uses of bass drumming. Since I don't know much about gear, what would you all suggest to me for each of my items?

it depends on how much you use it...

You could get a Tama IC Rollinglide for something like 350+ Canadian but i got a Dixon db pedal for 139 CDN but its not NEARLY as adjustable...im not that educated in electronic kits...

I'd be using it for about 2 hours a day max, probably.

realitically, the dixon pedal i have is a great pedal fora beginner...spring tension is really the only adjustment a beginner needs so i would say go for that if you feel like replacing it in about 2 or 3 years when you get better at double bass

PS. the girl in your avatar is hot...

Yamaha DTXPRESS III Those are right around 1500.

You would definelty have to have more for the pedal.

Sonor 3005s, aren't those acoustic? Yes, He didnt read.

EDIT: Looking up the prices I found they are just about 1000 bucks. Some may not agree with me, But IMO they are pretty awsome.

They are pretty awesome!

And why are you going electronic? If it's because of the sound and you have to I understand a bit but an accoustic kit feels better, sounds better, and the cymbals are incomparable. If you wanted to you could get an acoustic kit with soundoff pads, I saw a set of 12 13 14 16" Soundoff pads for only like 35$. If you went this way I'd buy Sonor 3005's and still have money for some good cymbals.

I prefer electronic because:

Easiness of recording
Hundreds of unique drum sounds
Normally compact and easy to move around
Can practice quietly but still get good sound
Lack of having to replace many things.
