The held ball rule is overused in college bball. I think they should get rid of it or call it way less its dumb that a possesion arrow sometimes decides the whole game.

Abuse of officials in hockey -- by the book, only the captain, his assitants, and the head coach can talk to the referee(s), and only when approached first by a ref. When a ref calls this, it's usually a petty and pointless call because he's pissed.

You have to call that or else some one can pick it up and skate across the ice with it in their hand.

It would be easy to score though.:p

Pitchers would then convert to hockey so they can pitch it in.

Roughing in hockey.

"Too much contact"

What the hell does that mean? It's a contact sport.

the new rule in hockey that if you hit the puck out even on accident you get a 2 minute delay of game penalty

Against Miik!

In 3 games in my high school career our QB got called for throwing the ball out of bounds even though he was about 5 steps from the sideline, clearly out of the pocket. He got called for intentional grounding. Apparently it's in the rulebook, but it only got called in 3 games, out of 30.

Only in your own end.

The rule makes sense, it's just the penalty is pretty harsh.

It's not nearly as bad as the rule against starting a fighti n the last 5 minutes of a game -- game misconduct and suspension. Stupid rule.

If you hold on to the ball without dribbling, passing, or shooting for X amount of time (what is it, five seconds?) the ball is immediately turned over to the other team.

Unsportsmanlike Conduct.

I don't think that's a dumb penalty, if we didn't have it we'd have more cheapshots than ever.

Obstruction in hockey.

Basically, it's preventing someone who doesn't have the puck, from getting the puck, mainly in front of the net.

For example, team A is in Team B's end. A player from team A is in front of the net waiting for a pass, and team b's player lifts up team A player's stick, or ties him up.

Really stupid. At least thats what I understand obstruction to be.

Obstruction is basically impeeding a player from moving. Basically holding him up by hitting him when he doesnt have the puck or tying him up and preventing him from moving.

I don't think its a bad penalty. It helps keep the flow of the game and cuts off slow players usually defencemen. All the leaf's defencemen used it.

You can still lift sticks.

In one of my games a guy took off his glove and picked up the puck, then realized what he did and threw the puck against the ice. I was standing on the point looking at this wondering what was happening.

I believe there has to be a defender actively guarding you.

Boarding in hockey, checking them too hard? That's a pussy call. Especially when the two players are close in size. Also when players that are bigger and they hit little kids, half the time I get called for elbowing even when it isn't an elbow.

Clipping is a good call, it eliminates alot of blindsides, and injuries.

Bring back two line passes in the NHL.

Boarding is usually when it's in the back, but it doesn't knock them down.
Roughing is usually when you push the kid infront of the net after the whistle.

I think they should get rid of the delay of game, by throwing out your center, that just wastes more time. Or when they call delay of game when you got the puck tied up on a penalty kill.

I like it the way it is.

Roughing is called when it wasnt nessary to be rough or when the ref needs an escape.

Delay of Game in hockey if the puck accidently goes into the stands. I can see their reason for having it, I simply want it gone because it annoyes me

I came in this thread to post about that. I remember when it was just goalies which pissed me off more, but it's still a really dumb rule. A penalty for playing the puck with a broken stick is also stupid.

Agreed. A lot of the new ones are being called too often. Hooking (which bsacially means now, if you even touch someone with your stick, your getting a penalty) is being called like its going out of style.

I hate the new NHL to be honest. I liked it at first but it seems that most games are decided by powerplays which sucks.

Yah i totally agree. And it becomes inevitable that you're going to get a penalty with all the new rules. Its incredible what they are actually considering penalties. I think it was on Tuesday when the Leafs were playing, they had 3 defensemen in the box at one time due to dumb calls.

Too many Men in hockey. I can understand if a team actually does have too many men on the ice, but it's always called when the players are changing and the puck hits there skate or something as they are going off, I dont see why they need a 2 minute penalty for this.

I think the NHL needs a dress code more than the NBA...NBA players may dress "ghetto", but at least they care about their appearances. Everyone in the NHL, coaches included, seems to shop at K-Mart.

Aaa i don't agree with that. Most players wear suits and don't look as bad as basketball players and most football players. But i think we can all agree that baseball players are snappy dressers.
