okay, so i went to band practice today, and i had left my snare drum there, on the snare stand, from practice last week, and i show up this week, and i start warming up, but something sounds wrong with the snare, so i turn it over, and the resonant head(stock pearl head) is ripped open, and one of the snare wires has come lose, so my first question is
1) do resonant heads just randomly do that sometimes, or should i suspect foul play?
and my second question is(of course) what would be a good head to get to replace it, i've heard good things about remo clear diplomats, but i need input from u guys plz
foul play=yes. slap a remo snareside ambassador on there.

My guess is that the snare strand is starting to wear and one coil snapped off and ripped the head. You will probably want to replace the snare strand as well as the head. You can get Gibraltar ones for pretty cheap that work great. For a reso head, I'd suggest either an Evans Hazy 200 or 300 :thumb:

yea, about snare wires, i was lookin' into pro sound, or pure sound, one or the other, i think it is pure sound, eitherway, if anyone has any experience with them and wants to tell me if they are any good that would be nice

They're quality wires. I'd definitely fork out the money for them, but if you don't really feel the need too, just buy the 20 strand replacement Gibraltar has. It works great and barely costs anything at all :thumb:

be careful not to overtighten your snare wire tension, and always turn it off whenever its not being used.

i bought some really cheap snare wires and they have been holding up for a super long time (like a year+) and they were like 2 bucks canadian and they are called "Snappy Snares"...lol but they are good...but my reso head did that randomly too...
get a Hazy 300 and a Power Center as a batter...

^well, i'm not buying a batter, and personally, i don't much care for the power center, i prefer remo's controled sound with the reverse dot

Get a remo snareside diplomat. I would listen to half life with the snare wire suggestion.
