I made another thread not too long ago but other things have come up and I could use some advice.
The guitar I'm supposedly going to get (for Christmas) is a Cort KX1FT. It's the top of the line of the Katana series. Here's a picture and its specs:

This guitar has "Mighty Mite Motherbucker Pickups". What makes these any different than humbucker pickups?
I was curious about this guitar so I went over to harmony central and I saw some reviews of a lesser model in the same series (also with motherbuckers) and these are some things that are said about the sound:
this guitar really does fill the void if you need a guitar for metal or an industrial sound...
Now the bad stuff. If you like nice warm tones....forget it. Much tweaking required. I am not thrilled about Cort putting such a HOT pickup in the neck. No contrast whatsoever. I will be putting a Seymour Duncan SH1N '59 model in the neck. otherwise, couldn't be happier
The guitar has quite a range but never approaches anything resembling warmth or acoustic vibrancy. The construction and pickups make for a hard, mechanical sound, that would suit hardcore metal or industrial music and strangely enough, it does funk rather well.
. You need some tweaks to have rich clean sound, but it felt unnatural to the guitar... this is the kind of guitar you buy NOT to play clean with.
Metal and industrial is exactly what I don't want. I want warm tones. Here's two examples of the sounds I'll be trying to achieve:
http://media.putfile.com/Do-Make-Say-Think---Goodbye-Enemy-Airship
http://www.sitesled.com/members/ledfloyd/06%20-%20Bruce%20E%20Kinesis.mp3
The second song might be a bit more suited for this guitar. I DO want to be able to play cleanly though! None of this incohherent distorted death metal nonsense...
I'll be able to make a recommendation as to what I want so I need your help! If you had to make a choice on a Cort that actually plays cleanly which one would you choose from here:
http://www.cort.com/guitars/
Maybe I'm very wrong though since I basically don't know what I'm talking about.
Thanks a lot!
